    Rainbow D2

Model D What year was the model D with a chrome dome made? I got a model D at a flea mall and I'm in the process of working on it. It is NOT a model D2.

I found a gem at the Flea Mall!

Is it possible to repack the bearings with White Lithium Grease? This is my first Rainbow teardown, and I DON'T want to screw this this up permanently. I'm used to working on Old Kirbys.

New owner of a Kirby Model 519 Vacuum Cleaner - HELP!

If the 519 has the original bag, or an early replacement, it does not require additional bags. But, It might have been modernized to work with Eureka FG bags. If that's the case, it will have a zipper going down the back. You can detach a shake-out bag by firmly gripping the bag at the bottom...

I found a gem at the Flea Mall!

Yesterday, I went to my favorite flea mall, and I found this lovely Rainbow D4. It works, but it doesn't sound too good. And I have no experience working on Rainbows. The dolley and top plastic pieces are broken. If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be great.

Apparently, I get rewarded for bad experiences with a Heritage?

Only one broke while in my ownership. It was pretty well lubed, it just broke apart because it was old and brittle. The other three were broken before I got them, but the most common problem I had with them is that the rim that the the gasket rests on cracks and falls apart.

    Miss Earlean's Old Kirby

Very nice! Excellent job as usual, Charles! I've still got quite a few machines to work on myself. At least the Vacuum Room's clean now.

    Got My Kirbys!!!

Serial Number Actually the first digit of the serial number tells you the plant, in this case, Andrews,Texas, the third and fourth is the year, and the fifth and sixth are the month. The Heritage II was made in Andrews, Texas in September 1987, and was number 15,192.

Apparently, I get rewarded for bad experiences with a Heritage?

Mini-Emtor The one thing I don't like about the Heritage II is that the plastic Mini-Emtor breaks easy. I've had about 4 of them just crack apart. And they're so expensive, too.

Apparently, I get rewarded for bad experiences with a Heritage?

All you have to do is get a G adaptor, destroy the metal retainer clip holding on the Style 2, and zip tie the G adaptor. Super easy, I did it to my Heritage I.

Apparently, I get rewarded for bad experiences with a Heritage?

It's not a Heritage II, But it's close enough! I know what it's like to want a particular Kirby so bad, but you can't find it anywhere. About 1.5 years ago, I was searching High and Low for a Heritage I. Then, all of a sudden, I found 1, (my best cosmetically) then 2, (Heritage 84) then 3...

    My "new" Heritage II!

TASE, Believe it or not, when I first started collecting, I would admire other collections and think the same thing. You just have to be patient. I've spent 4 years working to grow my collection. You just have to know where to look. Around here, there are quite a few good thrift stores that I...

    My "new" Heritage II!

The man you dealt with should be fired from LIFE. Just curious, how tall was the guy? He might have thought twice before cussing me out. I'm 6'4" and weigh 260 lbs.

    My "new" Heritage II!

If I was there I woulda punched that guy in the face. And probably more than that. Sorry about that, I know how it feels.

    My "new" Heritage II!

I'm sure you'll get it looking nice! I think a Kirby has a higher self-esteem when it's shiny. I got my Sentria for $15.

    Sentria II deal

I almost had one for $300 one time. I hate being broke!
