What do you think about Oreck Vacuums?

I've rebuilt 3 Orecks recently. A commercial model, a curved headlight model, and an XL21. I liked that they were simple to work on, and I see the appeal of their light weight. I did find the regular models to be noisy and not clean the greatest, but thought the XL21 was good. A lot quieter...

    Eureka Express Power Nozzle help

That's one of my favorite power nozzles. I used one paired with a TriStar for a long time because I liked the way it groomed and just seemed to work well overall. Have you cracked it open to see if there is a model number on the motor?

    Kirby Avalir with red trim

I agree with everyone here. The red accents look tacky. The 100th anniversary model looked much better.

    Tanks vs canisters

I oftentimes call carbonated beverages "soda pop" - it upsets people no matter what region of the country I'm in.

My 2 electrolux canister vacuum cleaners

It looks like the wheels are aqua on one side, and white replacements on the other. I've got two aqua G machines, each with one white replacement wheel. Eventually I'll put all matched wheels on the one in better shape.

What would you say is the prettiest upright vacuum that is currently available for sale?

I most definitely have to agree with others - the current Kirby is one of the best looking new vacuums available.

Time To Start Over?; Is Badge-Engineering Bad For Vacuums

I think it's bad when a previous high quality brand suddenly has their name on lower quality machines, or a different style of machine. For example, TTI badging plastic Hoovers as Royals. It degrades the name and the image people have of the company. Sometimes rebranding takes away the...

    Cannister

Another brand to keep your eyes open for is Compact, or as they are more recently called, TriStar. Great machines, powerful, and easy to service. You can find them occasionally in garage sales and resale shops. I have one I only paid $10 for, and another I got for about $12. I also agree...

Electrolux Diamond Jubilee (With 10-foot hose!)

That's a beautiful machine, Kyle. If we were a little closer I'd be all over it! I love the Diamond J's colors. One of the best looking of that style Electrolux, in my opinion.

    Led lights kirby

I've also used that same bulb with much success on a couple power nozzles. I'd buy them again. Clean bright light, and also flicker free.

Questions about my "new" Electrolux Model G

Jimmy - I thought the included attachments were nearly as cool as the machine. I know the cast metal ones are early, just not sure when though. They are neat though - especially those early flip over floor tools. Before this I didn't realize that there was an earlier version! Kenny -...

Questions about my "new" Electrolux Model G

So I liked the model G so much that I bought another. Found a turquoise model online and I couldn't pass it up. It also came with a couple hoses and a lot of accessories, including much earlier Electrolux pieces. The only thing that's wrong with this one is that one wheel had been replaced...

Questions about my "new" Electrolux Model G

I didn't think about the fact that this is a rebuild and may have come with a different power nozzle in it's second life. Is there any way to tell from the number on the rebuild sticker and plate when this was in for it's rebuild? Thanks for the info!
