    Vintage Electrolux Hose Repair

So I have all these vintage Electrolux hoses. Most look good but they all leak. I guess most are rubber. I read somewhere about a guy in Canada who pours some kind of liquid into the hose to seal the leaks. Does anyone know about that? Is it even worth it? Thanks! Bill

    Electrolux Retrofit

Rick, no I haven't finished my first project with the G wheels! I guess I would someday like to try the project just to try it. I always modified my cars when I was a teenager. My Dad used to gripe about my projects. His constant refrain was, "Son, they paid some engineer in Detroit thousands of...

    Electrolux Retrofit

Has anyone ever retrofitted a power nozzle to an older Electrolux like the LX or the Model E? I know purists would find this anathema. But it might make an interesting and fun project for someone with the skills! Bill

    Rebuilt Electrolux?

It's interesting to learn that a company seemed to specialize in re-builds. The thing that caught my eye was the painted halo. All the ones I've seen on the net are chrome. Rick, I haven't had time to work on the wheels but will after Thanksgiving. I don't have a vise, but I have a friend who...

    Rebuilt Electrolux?

I'm new to all this and therefore still learning. So I saw this listing on Ebay and wonder if it's a rebuilt model. I haven't seen anything on the internet for an Electrolux "Model A"...

What do you think, bag or bagless?

Most of the high end machines are bagged. That should tell you something.

    Electrolux Model G Wheels

Rick! That's a big wow! Do you polish the aluminum with a high speed buffer? I have this stuff called Flitz that I've used on my car wheels.

    Electrolux Model G Wheels

Rick, that is impressive! How long have you been restoring vacuums? Like I said in another post, I never knew people collected or restored vacuums! We have an Electrolux "Ultra Lux" that we bought about 15 years ago that still works as well as it did the day we bought it. They last forever!

    Electrolux Model G Wheels

Rick, I really appreciate the pictures! It really helped me understand what you're talking about (drilling out and using a screw).

    Electrolux Model G Wheels

Rick, Yes I have wheels. I'm using another Model G for parts that I found at a yard sale. The G that my friend gave me is in really great shape. Just one front wheel was busted. The paint and aluminum will clean up well. He also brought various and sundry attachments and hoses too. There is a...

    Electrolux Model G Wheels

I see what you're saying about the flared ends. Will needle nose pliers take care of that?

    Electrolux Model G Wheels

I didn't realize people collected vacuums until I inherited my Grandmother's Model XXX that she said she bought in 1938. She claimed to remember that because that was the year my my Mom was born. But I looked at photos on some website and I think her's is post WWII. One of the XXXs I received in...

    Electrolux Model G Wheels

LOL! I actually have four Model XXX. One was my grandmother's. I recently came into an "instant" collection. I man I know was salvaging a house before demolition and came across a bunch of Electrolux vacuums. He knows I like to tinker and brought them all to me. The lot included three Model XXX...

    Electrolux Model G Wheels

I appreciate the thoughts! I haven't had too much trouble working on this machine until it came to the wheel thing! The design of these vacs are pretty intuitive (even for me!) but the wheels have me stumped. The rear wheels are simple, but the front wheels are something different. I have one G...

    Electrolux Model G Wheels

Is there a trick to removing the front wheels from a Model G? The axle comes off easily enough, but the wheels have me stumped. My thanks to anyone who can shed some light on my dilemma! Bill
