Are Eco-labelled Vacuum Cleaners Worth the Extra Cash brands are selling?

"If you can get someone to mend it" Or even better, fix it yourself, there's nothing more satisfying than successfully repairing, or even making, something by yourself, especially when it saves you money and the grief of having to transport things about to take them to repair shops... :)

Are Eco-labelled Vacuum Cleaners Worth the Extra Cash brands are selling?

It's what is known as "greenwash", coming up with something, then slapping an "Eco friendly" logo on it to appeal to those who think they're saving he planet, when in reality they're just as bad as the "non-eco" models, just look at the Toyota Prius, that has an engine that burns just as much...

    Dyson replacement belt

"Its so easy." It may be for someone who changes them every day, but for those of us who don't (seeing how they're meant to last the life of the vacuum, which is only meant to be about the length of the warranty), it's not... :&#92 Not to mention, to do it properly, you need this set of tools...

    Dyson replacement belt

Yeah, but that's here in the UK, I'm not too sure Dyson UK would charge £73 to send someone out to Plano, Texas (even with the incentive of visiting the Dr. Pepper factory!!)... :P

    Dyson replacement belt

"when all you need to do is take the brush compartment a Try doing it and you'll find out why... :S Going from memory (getting round the visits to the first aid box), you have to detatch the belt from the motor which goes to the clutch, which you can't do unless you have a specific dyson tool...

    Dyson replacement belt

If it's a clutch model, run, just run away now!!! Those things are a PIG to remove, dismantle and fit new belts onto, reassemble and refit, shedding skin, blood and expletives in the process... Our old DC-04 had the brushroll belt snap, and that was where my dislike for dysons really began...

Junkyard Wars - DIY Vacuum Battle!

That's not Junkyard Wars, that's Scrapheap Challenge!!! :P And I remember that one well, one's a "dirty-fan" one, and the other's a "clean-air" one, I won't spoil it though for those who haven't watched it... :P

Kirby Sentria at the Goodwill for $9.50

A G6 bag I had for awhile had some pink UV fading too, so not just the Sentria that has that problem... :&#92 But, UV fading happens to anything that is stored in bright sunlight, even behind so-called UV blocking glass... :(

Kirby Sentria at the Goodwill for $9.50

I'm 6'2", weigh too much and I still think Kirbys are heavy (as does the weak spot in my back), I still like them though, I just try not to move the bigger ones incase I pop a rib out again... :P

Kirby Sentria at the Goodwill for $9.50

You could sell it on ebay for a lot more as-is, let alone as parts... :P Give it a wipe down, fit a new belt, pop in a new bag and you have yourself a bargain there... :P

Will I kirby mini emptor fit on a Sanitronic?

Oh, I should point out, just to avoid confusion, that Sani-emtors don't fit properly on the HeritageII to LegendII unless the rear axle is replaced with the narrower style as used on the Tradition & HeritageI...

Will I kirby mini emptor fit on a Sanitronic?

Yes, it will, from a 516 to a LegendII, all the Emtors (be they Sani-emtors or Mini-Emtors) are interchangeable... :) My D80 (basically the same thing, but with a 2-speed motor) has been fitted with a Mini-Emtor & LegendII bag (looks fine and was all I had to hand), and it works great, and it's...

Hoover upright U1104 how to dismantle

There are two screws on the other side of the motor (opposite side to the two that are obvious), which you need a long screwdriver to get to, once you have them out you should be able to pull the motor out, with some resistance from the sealant (don't forget to put some fresh sealant on the...

    Hoover 612 converted to 110v!

I'm guessing what they did was replace the 240v motor with a US 61's 120v motor... :P Just out of curiosity, what colours are the wires inside the plug there? If they're Red & Black (Live & Neutral, & Green (ground) if 3-wires), then they kept the original power cable too...
