    Favourite Vintage Vacuum Cleaner Slogans

I have always like the slogan Kirby used for so many years. Kirby- 'More lesure time for you.' It was created at a time when Kirbys were still smaller and easier to operate. From the Classic 1-CR on the slogan was more of a joke than truth, but I still think it was a great advertising slogan...

    Kirby D-80 Fan..

NO!!! Don't do it... I am sorry, but I must urge you NOT to loan out your D80 to someone that is known to 'kill' vacuums. Yes, the damage can be fixed... but, do you WANT to spend the money to replace the fan? What about the fan housing? I have seen Kirbys that had holes punched through the fan...

    Kirby G4 Transmission

Check the Cam Bracket... Sounds to me like the Cam Bracket needs to be replaced. The Cam Bracket is the little part that pushes the gears apart when the peddle goes from Off to On. It wares down over time. If you take the transmission out for the base unit, you unscrew the control peddle and as...

LOL! Swept up a nail in my moms oreck!

I spent two and a half years as the Service Manager for the Oreck franchise here in Utah and had some really odd customers. In my experience Oreck owners have been some of the MEANEST and most DIFFICULT people to deal with. They all seemed to think that the Oreck can pick-up ANYTHING, should...

Need some help with Kirby comvac 1600

The Comvac 1600 is based on the Heritage. It should share most of the same parts. Are there certain parts that you are looking for? Justin

    Upgrading my Kirby Classic Omega

Up-Grade or Trade UP... If you don't want to put more money into the Omega, then I suggest that you get a used G Series. The Transmissions are NOT that bad, they are not going out left-and-right. If you remember to put it into 'neutral' BEFORE you turn off the power the transmission will last...

    Kirby Tradition deep cleaning results

Deeeeeeep cleaner..... Kirbys are GREAT deep cleaners. My GSix seems to clean better after I installed the new style brush roller into it. I will always use a Kirby when I want to give my home a through cleaning. Justin

    Oreck American Heritage

I like Orecks... I have an Oreck 9200 and I love it. It's great for quick cleaning when I don't have energy to use one of my Kirbys. Orecks are not 'deep cleaners', but will get the crud off the floor. I want to add an XL21, or something like it, to my collection. Justin

Your one favorite Kirby OF ALL TIME

My grandparents D50. I got it back in 1988 when my stepfather gave them a Hoover Commercial upright. Ok, today it is more of a FrankenKirby. It has a Classic handle, Heritage II mini-emtor with a brown open-top cloth bag. Lately, I have been using it with a Classic nozzle that someone had...

    Kirby D80 warranty

Graham, I believe that Kirby keeps records of the machines it sells. If you send in a vacuum and you are not the original owner they will not do the re-build for the listed price. Kirby is happy to re-build your D80, but at a much higher cost than what is listed in the owner's manual that you...

What vacuums do U regret getting rid of?

I gave up several when I moved into my currant, much smaller, apartment. There were, Tri Star DXL with a really good replacement pn. Filter Queen X-31. Kirby D80 with mini emtor and HII bag. Kirby Classic III with mini emtor and Heritage bag. Kirby D50 trimmed in Tradition Blue with a mini...

Old School Photo of Me Circa 1990

Somewhere within my family is a picture of me, aged 6, having a nap with my are over my grandparent's Kirby D50. If I ever find it I will post it. But, I must confess, the picture was staged. I was a drama queen from birth. Justin

original cloth bags for vintage kirby

Have you thought about buying one of the black bags Kirby sells as a replacement for the older machines, then find the logo on-line and print it onto an iron-on transfer? That might be one way to go. Justin

    Super Sweep bearings and belts?

I admit that changing the belt in my Super Vac was a pain in the arse, but worth it. I really like mine. I just wish I had a better brush roller and white bag guard and bag top cover. That's easy enough to do and I will get to it... one of these years. --Goldenvoice-- If you choose to sell your...

How Many of You Modify Your Kirby This Way?

And here is my Kirby 561 with Classic III handle and a Legend II bag unit. It works well and is one of my favorites. Justin

How Many of You Modify Your Kirby This Way?

I have put the handle and bag unit from a Heritage onto a D50. I've not put a Heritage nozzle on it, and don't plan to. I like the look of my D50/Heritage and I did it because it reminded me of the Kirby ComVac 1400. My 'FrankenKirby' looks good, but it needs bearings and some new trim pieces...
