Achieving original Hoover Model 541 finish

This is my original 541. It used to belong to the late Stan Kann. The matte finish is lustrous. The nameplate has a somewhat yellow color. I do not use the original bag, but I have it for posterity. Biker Ray made this copy for me, which filters very well and works like a dream when I vacuum...

    Rare AP100 Manual – Thoughts?

I was known for my huge collection of vacuum cleaner literature, owners manuals, instruction books, etc. I always allowed people to go through and look at them during the conventions. When I retired I offered them to many people, tons of collectors and friends. No one wanted it. Into the trash...

    Red Hoover 105

I love the bags you made for my machines. I dyed the white satin ones with Tea. They are now the same color as the originals were more than 100 years ago. You do great work.

    Electrolux TriVac 2102

Same thing here when I retired Jimmy. I got two rollaway dumpsters and threw everything in because no one had any interest in these old vacuum bags, roller brushes, motors, nothing. Into the trash went brand New parts as well as vintage stuff. The only stuff I took home were parts for the 50...

    Filterqueen Majestic

The good news is because they are sold by high-pressure door to door salesmen for the most part, you will always find people who are willing to let them go cheap because they don't like them. They many times owe the loan company more than they are selling the machine for. I'm always surprised...

    Riccar R-40 P2 Upright - good/bad?

It was called the Kenmore ultra vac. When I retired, I sold mine to a man in Utah. Sears sold them in the catalog. But it was the fall and winter sale catalog, not the big book. It was on the back cover. Also, the Regina canister with the brush and beat upright for a power nozzle had a fan.

    Riccar R-40 P2 Upright - good/bad?

There is no advantage to tandem. It was a marketing gimmick invented by Tacony. The circuit boards in all of them were a huge problem. I know, I used to work at the factory for 10 years. I saw them throw a flaming radiance down the concrete stairs. I was standing right there. They hauled it...

    Labor Day plans?

My good friend and Kirby guru Adam M. Came to visit with us for his Birthday weekend which is also Labor Day weekend this year. I made him a coconut cream cake for his birthday. He is staying through Labor Day, so we are going to grill St. Louis style pork steaks with Maul’s barbecue sauce. I...

    Super House Maid Vacuume Cleaner

That is actually a Kingston, made by Douglas. It was also called a Coronado, or a monitor. Depending on where it was sold. Firestone just had their name put on it for sale in their stores. They also did the same thing with Apex as a manufacturer. As well as Clements, the maker of Cadillac.

    Super House Maid Vacuume Cleaner

The vacuum is a Cadillac. Cadillac made the first two speed tank type vacuum cleaner motor. That was also made under the name admiral, Firestone, and good housekeeping, Clements, who made Cadillac vacuum cleaners, was a prolific private labeler. The 1946 consumer reports showed three different...

    However Clean—-Hoover Cleaner!

Mornings at the House of Hoover. My dog is the only thing on the vintage carpet less than 100 years old. Except for his doggy hairs which are in the Hoover bag. Model 105. 1922

    Model XXX Hose

I have managed to find a few over the last 50 years I’ve been collecting vacuums. A couple of them look like they just came out of the factory. Anyone with very deep pockets can contact me and we’ll discuss selling one.

Thank you, John Gregory. I love my Hoover 1178.

I know John Gregory will appreciate this photo. It is of a wonderful Hoover Baby. 103. It still had the crumbs of the dry pepper cookies that broke the heavy cast aluminum fan. Not to worry. I fixed it. Now we need a light fixture to screw the original cord into.

    However Clean—-Hoover Cleaner!

Since I can’t decide, I will just have to use all three. The “old style special“ model N belonged to the late Stan Kann. The model 700 did as well. In fact, the model 700 was his favorite model Hoover. It’s interesting, and sad, that there are many vacuum collectors who have no idea who he was...
