WTB - mint or near mint Electrolux teal model L

Let's talk, as I don't know the market price Will up to $600 get me anything? I love the old Electroluxes, but the teal model L is the only one I'm willing to pay a lot for. Funny thing, I didn't grow up with this model or anything like that. I first encountered one when I was age 20, and I...

WTB - mint or near mint Electrolux teal model L

I simply love this model! I have a gold model L with cordwinder, and IMO this is what a vacuum should sound like. I prefer the teal over all the other colors, and I will pay a fair price for a mint or near mint example. It needs to include the original hose and all accessories. An airtight...

    My sweet new Electrolux 1205

I figured it's not all original because . . . . . . owners did what they had to do to keep their vacuums working. The plastic parts should be teal, but it is what it is and I'm not bummed. What I have is a PN-4A, but only occasionally am I a stickler, and this isn't one of those times. The...

Fantastic job! I love these early uprights, especially the less-common brands.

Nice! I'm not up on the Kirby models - when was this one made?

What's up with the motor in my Electrolux 1205?

Actually, no it didn't, and I want to share my diagnosis The problem came back today, along with the motor not coming up to full speed right away. Been there, fixed that - it's a sticking brush. My model L did the same thing when I first had it. I also noticed today that the wind-down took...

    My sweet new Electrolux 1205

Hello all, I received this yesterday. It has what appears to be an Aerus replacement motor, but AFAIK everything else is original. The only cleaning I've done is to the floor tool. The electric hose is airtight as the seller stated, and the body is dent-free. This is one sweet machine. I...

What's up with the motor in my Electrolux 1205?

Problem solved itself I knew it was a replacement because I've serviced original 1205 motors. I thought it could be an Aerus replacement because 1) a generic motor wouldn't be made in the USA, and 2) the fan housing is screwed together like the 'lux motors of old. Nothing seemed amiss with...

    Measuring my vintage vacs

Hi everyone, this will be kind of a geeky post. Awhile back I saw an Electrolux ad from December 1956 stating that the new model AE was their most powerful ever, with 20% more power. I wanted to test that claim (and I was always curious about the power of my vintage vacs) so I purchased a...

What's up with the motor in my Electrolux 1205?

Greetings all, today I took delivery of a very clean 1205 with original PN-2 and an airtight original electric hose. When I powered it up the brush noise was awful - this motor screams! I thought oh great, I have work to do, so I took it apart and found what's shown in the images. It's...

Are there still retail stores that let you try out vacuums?

This is somewhat off-topic, but . . . . . . this thread reminded me of a visit with my parents to a Sears store in the late 60s, where halfway down the stairs to the lower level they had a central vac on display. It was connected and I pressed the correct button to turn it on. I was able to...

Is this hose end from a Canadian Electrolux?

OK, more info please I'll buy that - do you have an image of the machine end of that hose? That would nail it. Didn't some Electrolux uprights accept a standard tank machine end coupling? I seem to remember owning one that did. Joel[this post was last edited: 9/10/2021-22:53]

Is this hose end from a Canadian Electrolux?

Greetings all, packed with one of my recent eBay Electrolux purchases was a hose I didn't recognize. It had a plastic machine end that looked incomplete, and this handle. The warning about not using on wet surfaces is in French. Would the hose have been for a Canadian Electrolux? As luck...

Need switch for Electrolux AE, AF, or G

Found one One showed up on eBay this week, and I grabbed it. It wasn't the switch rocker that was my problem; the replacement rocker didn't improve matters. The replacement switch is working perfectly, and my G is now 100% functional. Thanks for the replies. I no longer need a switch, but I...

I've looked, so what WERE the first 'lux PN colors?

To die for OMG Dysonman1, what a beautiful array of original AF components! Good on you!

I've looked, so what WERE the first 'lux PN colors?

Funny you should write that ... Tonight I did some cleaning with my model AE and my model G's PN-1. It's so quiet compared to the later power nozzles! I have a new brushroll in the PN-1 and everything else is in tip-top shape, so why not use it and enjoy it? Joel

    My Electrolux model G

Given when the S was made, yours probably has a rear sleeve bearing. For purposes of this post, I will assume that. I take these motors completely apart to clean them and check the condition of the front bearing. When I serviced my AE, G, and L motors, the rear bearing and motor shaft still...

    My Electrolux model G

Hello all, here is a pic of my 'lux model G. This is as it came to me. I haven't done any cleaning or polishing. I purchased this one because of its modern hose. I really like the woven hoses but I opted for this one because with it, I have a usable cleaner. The only things I have done so...

I've looked, so what WERE the first 'lux PN colors?

Jo, thank you for your thoughtful response. I mentioned the Automatic E because mine has the retrofit port. It's logical that Electrolux never made a power nozzle that color coordinated with the AE, because probably not enough owners upgraded to justify a special production run. And yet they...

I've looked, so what WERE the first 'lux PN colors?

I've searched old posts and found that the power nozzles for the 'lux AF matched the main unit's colors, but were they ivory with a brown bumper or the other way around? Just wondering - I don't have an AF but I can imagine the PN-1 that came with the turquoise G's were that same ivory color...
