    Baking Soda Myth

I will agree with human. I can't even count the number of machines I've seen totally trashed by that carpet fresh stuff, let alone the number of electronics with circuit boards caked with the junk. I have a 37" LCD TV setting downstairs right now that was shutting off every 15 minutes, boards...

    Trading with a member

Sorry to chime in late, just read this. You obviously have an address since you sent him the vacuum. I would try contacting the local authorities in his state. Make sure you save all past correspondence, they may want it. I'm not sure, but I would think this would be a case of "theft by...

    Kirby classic3 roadside

Wow!! Great save. Kirby's aren't too common roadside here. 2 months back someone was cleaning house before putting it up for sale and I found a case of attachments for a Kirby tradition and the hose, next week they set out the matching rug shampooer/renovator and shag tool, alas...no vacuum...

    Why canisters?

I love my vintage tri-stars canisters. Just so much easier for me to switch attachments and maneuver. I think it's just a matter of preference and how you use them.

    these are disgusting

Nasty. I've trash picked much cleaner vacuums. LOL 8 out of 10 isn't bad though. Nice work!

    HOPELESS ACCESSORIES/TOOLS

Another vote here for those power brush attachments. Ugh. My favorite had to be that nylon feather duster type thing that came equipped on a certain model orange Eureka. Seriously how was that a good idea? LOL

    Bissell Big Green Powerbrush (canister)

Ran across one of these in the original box sitting at the curb last night. Appearance-wise it looks like it might have been used all of one time and everything including the manual looks like it's there. It's currently sitting in the shed pending further evaluation. Anyone have one? Like it...

    Common vacuums seen in trash

Mostly Bissell's at the curb here, although lately there has been a run on Eureka's...the orange bagless Captures. Spotted 3 in the last month. Blech. I can say after around 10 years of picking up countless vacuums I've seen way worse that I wouldn't even touch with a hazmat suit on setting in...

in the market for a new steam vac

I'm not familiar with the Bissell Big Green, but I've picked up a couple of the newer Bissell proheat 2x (clogged at the curb). Fixed them, tried them, gave them away and kept my Hoover spin scrub. I like all the attachments, but as for cleaning carpets...I really wasn't impressed.

    Kirby Tradition saved from dump

WOW! You did an awesome job on that one! She looks beautiful.

Please identify this mystery Hoover product

Does this Self Propelled Windtunnel motor look like it needs to be replaced

Yikes! I've picked up ones that had been through a flood that looked better than that. It may run but it will probably start screaming like a banshee soon if it hasn't already. I don't think you could even go wrong putting in a good used motor if you don't want to buy new.

    My $20.00 Flea Market Find...

    Wow...Beautiful! Nice find.

    Childhood vac

My mother had a couple of upright hoovers I don't remember much about, a red Kenmore she hated (gift from MIL), and later a couple of heavily abused Kirby's she found at yard sales. One screamed like a banshee until she found a parts machine and swapped the motor. I was in my teens when my...

    Un-amazing trash find

Was excited when I saw it, until I got a little closer and saw the bolts sticking up. Ugh. Not sure what I'm doing with it yet, power head is powerless (motor probably shot, reset didn't do nothing)...will probably take that apart later and look...really similar to the one on my Tri-Star it...

    bissell powerforce

Have a motor but I chopped the wires, besides it looked like it had seen water...some people use them like shop vacs. Combo tool I probably have, not sure. Seriously though, go out looking around on trash night...for awhile I think I was averaging finding one a month, most of the time they...

Wanted: handle for Kenmore Progressive upright

Model #11633920300 Long shot, but I'm looking for the two piece handle/spring? that snaps over the top handle to work the auto reverse. This is for a Kenmore Progressive bagless, beltless vac with the auto reverse feature year 2000? or so. View it here...

    Oreck XL3600HH repair

Cool extra. Yikes, on the Oreck. A first glance it looked like they sucked up a squirrel. lol My grandmother had red carpet that used to fuzz like that. Nasty.

    Sprint in the snow

First 4 numbers are 1098. So it's a 98? Wasn't aware of this, thought it was something around there though.
