    Eureka 1425A/Dial a Nap History?

I have one of the top-hose ones I have one of those pre-1970 Eurekas with the top plate--through some miracle, I was able to find the replacement part. It's a wonderful machine! Out of curiosity, when the Rugulator and Dial-a-Nap were out, did Eureka ever make a base model without a height...

    Low-priced Eureka F and G uprights?

I'm guessing that there were models with two positions of Dial-a-Nap, and four settings, and I want to say six settings. Some with headlights, others without...but in the late sixties, seventies and eighties were there any without Dial-a-Nap or a headlight?

WANTED (In Seattle area): Eureka 1428

Hi, all! I'm looking for a Eureka 1428 upright vacuum (like my grandma's). I don't mind non-original bags, or missing bumpers. I'm looking to pay between $15 and $40 for it, depending on condition. I'm willing to travel anywhere in a 30 mile radius, especially if there's bus service. (Or, even...

    Vintage Eureka Outer Bags?

Anyone have any sources for replacement outer bags for Eureka F and G uprights? I have a couple that have had theirs replaced with Sanitaire bags, and was wondering if anyone may have any extra bags, especially the ones that have the colored lines that say "UPRIGHT". Also, would you guys be able...

    Universal cloth vacuum bags?

Hi! I own a Hoover 26, and was wondering if there were any outer bags that are still being made that would work as a frankenbag solution?

Smell For some reason, it smells like burning candles. Does that mean it's toast?

    Hoover U3103?

Hi! I just bought a U3103 Concept One. I got it for $5 (instead of $10) because the motor was as loud as a chain saw. I have a few questions: (1) Is it supposed to be that loud? (2) When was the Concept One made? (3) do you have any vintage ads for it? (4) What bags does it take?

    Hoover Model 26?

Bag patterns? Does anyone have the patterns to make a bag for the 26? I think it'd look amazing with a brown and dark brown plaid bag. Nick

    Hoover Model 26?

The cord The cord is identical to the ones I've seen on Dial-a-Matics, but Electrolux would also work. I gave the base a fresh coat (nothing worse than a shiny spot) Would a Kirby or Hoover commercial outer bag work as a stopgap?

    Hoover Model 26?

I just bought my first prewar vacuum--a Hoover Model 26, in a thrift shop in Kelso, WA for $15! It appears to have a later bag (with a Hoover paper bag) on it, from I'd guess around 1980-90. The cord appears to be one from a Dial-a-Matic. I'm curious what an original bag would look like, and...

    Headlights?

I have a couple odd questions: 1. What was the first vacuum to offer a headlight? 2. Why don't any Sanitaire/Perfect vacuums offer headlights? 3. What is the headlight for? (It seems to make everything easier to see, so I'm guessing they're to avoid table legs)
