Need help identifying vacuum in Old House

Surprising to see such a modest vacuum for such a large house. Really sad, that beautiful old victorian will probably be knocked down with all that deterioration. I'll bet the hose and attachments are still somewhere in that house. Someone needs to save that cleaner!

    Brittle ABS Plastic

Give me copper every time!!! I had a bathroom renovated about ten years ago, they used that pex for the water lines. Wouldn't you know within six months I had a flood in the bathroom because one of the lines failed. For a drain line PVC is fine but if it's pressurized I want copper!

    Brittle ABS Plastic

I wonder if the early G-Force and Cyclon have the same issues with the plastic disintegrating?

Kirby Ultimate G power cord color change

Before you order the genuine, I know certain distributors make an aftermarket Generation series cord in black. Works the same, just doesn't have the Kirby logo on the plug.

    Electrolux at Service Merchandise

It's really not all that surprising, and I doubt there was much (if any at all) difference in quality compared to the ones sold door-to-door. Oreck did the same thing, first by offering it through strictly mail order, then offering it only through vacuum stores and then in 1997, telling said...

What vacuums do/did your parents or grandparents use?

My grandparents on my mother's side had a Hoover Convertible 1010. I used to push it all around the living room starting at the age of 3. Something happened to the snap vinyl bag and it got replaced with a vinyl zipper bag that was beige with a floral print. In the garage they had a G.E...

    40 years of technology

Things could've been ALOT different.... If Hoover didn't sell their clean air patent to Panasonic. While the Concept One is far superior build quality to the Windtunnel, going back to the dirty air system was taking two steps forward, three steps back. Granted the Concept worked well, but the...

Just bought an Oreck XL on eBay

Seems like you got everything you need. The Orecks are a little on the loud side, but if you like their performance, you WILL be impressed with the XL-21. I have one and it BLOWS AWAY their classic line. It's quieter, has more suction, lower profile cleaning head and the brushroll actually...

Just bought an Oreck XL on eBay

The Oreck is not a bad choice.... For daily cleaning it works fine on medium to low pile carpeting. Just make sure the brush roller is in good shape, that's really the heart of the cleaning action on the Oreck. I myself like the Oreck, I was sorry the company fell victim to TTI's ownership...

What vacuums have you seen in movies?

Thank you Hoover300. The lighting was so dim in those scenes it's hard to tell. But were Belden plugs used on Royals?

What vacuums have you seen in movies?

I've been trying to figure out for the longest what kind of tank cleaner they used for the movie "Mac and Me." Whatever it was, I'm sure it was modified.

    Neighbors owning the same vacuum?

I remember seeing alot of Hoover Dial-A-Matics around the neighborhood growing up, and sadly many at the curb as the years went on. Occasionally, I'd see the then-new Concept One and in the early '90's I saw a TON of Hoover Elites. I worked at Woolworth's in the late '90's and I remember the...

Would you buy these Singer Vacuum from a Singer Sewing Machine store

Were they so bad it caused the whole chain to shut down? No, it wasn't the vacuums.... Vacuums were always a side business for Singer. Sewing machines were always their core product. Starting in the 1960's Singer was more concerned about how quickly they could stamp out and sell machines...

    Any Disney World fans here???

GE sponsored Horizons too, that is up until 1993. In 1994 the ride was closed for a year or so and when it re-opened that vacuum had the GE logo covered up below the headlight and the G.E. Deluxe replacement bag it had was changed to just a plain purple bag.

TV show Bewitched - door to door salesman

Quite possibly, but if that's true the DAM 1100's last appearance was in the "I Dream of Jeannie" season 2 episode 1 where the Blue Djinn (Michael Ansara) threw it into the ocean. Since it was 1966, Samantha probably got upgraded to a Dial-A-Matic 1118. I don't recall seeing the peacock blue...

    Any Disney World fans here???

Does anybody else remember the GE AVF-807 upright that was in the long gone (but not forgotten) "Horizons" in Epcot? The vacuum as well as the robot Butler was on display in a Horizons tribute some years back.

TV show Bewitched - door to door salesman

I've only seen the Dial-A-Matic 1100 with the chrome tape over the Hoover letters. I've heard tell of a powerdrive DAM 1170 being seen in Samantha's closet but I've never seen it for myself.

    Incinerating vacuum?

The only thing I've ever seen along those lines (and I only saw it in a SkyMall catalogue) was a Sanyo canister that heated the bag to kill dust mites. Probably some 30 years ago. Does anybody have one?

What will the CCP Virus mean for Kirby?

From where I stand Kirby is hanging on by a thread anyway. There are NO distributors in the vicinity and if they're gonna keep trying to pawn off a warmed-over 1990 model, either get with the times or shutter your doors.

    Model S - By Request.

"A Thing of Beauty is a Joy Forever" That model S is STUNNING. Awhile back, I got an Electrolux Automatic F in the same colors (guess that was the TOL at that time). The switch is shot and the motor smoked but I don't have the heart to bring it to the metal recycler. The couple that had it...
