    Electrolux XXX motor

Hi all, I have an early 50s model XXX with the hammer-tone blue accents that has a bad motor. I guess the bearings are seized up, because it just makes a horrible grumbling noise when turned on. I have considered upgrading the machine with a newer, more powerful motor, like one from a Model G...

i got a play with the new dyson cinetic upright

I noticed something interesting... On the Dyson US website, these show up having less air watts than either the DC65 or DC41. My hunch is that they have decreased the power draw as they have had to in Europe. It would make sense to keep the models parallel in that respect.

Tan Model G sales receipt - something interesting

What a wealth of 1205 information! I am actually a big 1205 fan. I believe they looked so modern for their time. I have both an earlier version and a later version with the electric hose. For a long time, I have been perplexed by the fact that the early one has BOTH a pigtail port and direct...

    I got some new toys

    Dyson cinetic big ball

Rainbow Great points about Rainbow. I like the looks of the new Dyson machine but it does grind my gears that Dyson claims to be the first. And no, The rainbow has no filter above the water basin. The separator is Rainbow's magic compiment. Machines since the original E Series do have post...

    Dyson cinetic big ball

Very interesting concept I noticed it was on the American site as well, but not available to buy yet. I Wonder if Dyson is going to phase out the number nomenclature, as the new machine has no designation like "DC40" or "DC41." It appears the "Big Ball" only goes by that name. It looks like a...

    Vacuum Market share?

Thanks Christopher That makes sense- I wish there were more public numbers on the door-to-door companies' annual sales. I suppose their sales haven't really weakened since they still use the same sales model that many believe is outdated.

    Vacuum Market share?

Does anyone have any details on the current market share of the various vacuum companies in the US? I read in a Dyson job posting that they are currently in one out of every ten homes in America, and it made me curious about the other companies. I imagine cheaper Big Box vacuums have a large...

    Treasures Hidden Inside Vacuum Cleaners

Love the story That was a pretty cool story- I had to remind myself it wasnt true! I have often wondered the same thing. I'm so forgetful that if I hid money in a vacuum, I would forget all about it!

    Im considering changing my collecting...

Neat Idea I know very little about Westinghouse, but I believe if it is what you are most passionate about then it is great to throw all the resources you can behind that collection. I find myself doing that with Electrolux more and more- selling other brand vacuums in order to get more Lux...

RARE ELETROLUX MODEL LXI INSTRUCTION MANUAL FINALLY FOUND!

Woohoo! Congratulations Charles!!! It is so exciting to find something you've been looking for a long time. As a fellow Lux nut, I certainly appreciate the scans. I snapped up the last LXI that was on eBay, and unlucky me - it is missing the front caster. I wish Electrolux would have used the...

    Christmas present to myself...

It arrived today The machine arrived today and I am glad to have it, but slightly dissapointed. In shipping, the blower end was smashed in. I can't imagine what hit this package so hard that it completely broke metal. And it was packed well. Also, there were pieces of the Bakelite motor mounts...

    Early Christmas present

Ray That sure is a nice gift! Enjoy it. The early Kirbys are my favorite.

    Christmas present to myself...

XXX That is a beautiful XXX. The design is timeless and was such an effective cleaner. The airflow of a XXX is strong enough that it is a workout to push the rug nozzle on some of my rugs with my newer XXXs.

We are scarce It does seem KY collectors are scarce. I live about 50 miles east of Bowling Green.

    Christmas present to myself...

I have purchased an early run (second version) pre-war Electrolux XXX on eBay. I am very excited, as I have been searching for a pre-war machine with the aluminum rear, different front cover, and flat runners that attach to the trim for quite a while. Now just to find the rest of the original...

    Filter Queen and Tristar

Thanks Dan and sebo_fan I have seen those threads, but the first one compares the CXL to the CS and the second one doesn't have any info on the CS. Thank you for posting those links, though.
