I just picked up a 7 year old Kirby Sentria, which I couldn't get to run at all, but had a broken fan, cord hook broken off, bag from a G5, nozzle bent (yes, bent!), bottom plate missing, and no paper bag, the cloth bag was filled completely. Ended up becoming parts to get a G4 running.

Windsor Versamatic. Heavy, yes, but oh so quiet, and a foolproof super sucker. That or a Sanitaire 7 amp with vibragroomer 2. I would say my first choice would be the Windsor because of the attached hose. One of my favorite vacuums to use.

Those versions of Panasonic Uprights are simple powerhouses, and near bullet proof. I have never seen one with any more than a broken belt or worn brush strips.
