Not the typical sound of that model Hoover. I own numerous Hoovers with both 7amp and 12amp motors similar to that and none of them sound like that. The 12amp is a little louder than the 7, but that sounds like you may have a problem with your fan.

Found this today on my way home from work sitting next to a recycle bin. I didn't do a single to thing to it. Brought it home plugged it in and it works great. I love the way it looks.
