    Electrolux Model G

Which..... color is it? The tan models got a motor upgrade. I agree with all that has been said; you have a leak somewhere or exit-air clogging. I don't understand your comment about LUX's needing inordinate maintenance. They're tanks and considering their age (probable abuse by now), they...

    Electrolux XXX Suction

I think the suction just got better over the model yrs. So...it's comparing apples to oranges. My 1205 has slightly more powerful suction than my Jetson turquoise G....and one of my Jetson G's has more suction than the other G. The pull on that 1205 is pretty fierce.    Kevin

All Purpose Cleaner for Vintage Vacuums.

So..... it's good for cleaning up bumpers, plastic trim and such......but should it be kept away from pristine, original paint?   Kevin

At the last yard sale, I found treasure!

If that's.... true leather up there....I would try traditional leather cleaners before considering chemicals. Leather can be redyed as well once you get any treatment off the surface.   Kevin

    My greatest find!

Hmmmm..... 30 degree fittings or 22.5 degree? The last system I saw looked like they used PVC waste & vent fittings. I wasn't aware that the plastics companies took interest in making pipe and fittings for central vac systems.   Kevin

    Electrolux model 86

Again..... <a name="start_14179.150098"><strong>a sintered bushing. Some are dry lubricated some are wet. 3 in One oil is not the best, but they do make an 20wt oil in the little squirt cans specifically for small electric motors. Comes in a distinctive blue & white can so as not to confuse...

    My greatest find!

<a name="start_14218.150383">I have seen quite a few of these. There is a large developement here in Dix Hills, New York, that was built by a developer called Levitt, yes, he is the builder of Levittown, NY. This developement is an upscale developement that was built by Levitt, and Levitt...

At the last yard sale, I found treasure!

Really..... Zach...a preference for just Canadian LUX's??  Well that's cool I guess....can't say I have anything against Canadian LUX's, or what they look like.;-)   OMG Ben....stellar find, $4 really??! That's the Mother Ship of LUX's; the one that made them a household name.;-) No way...

    Electrolux model 86

Then.... there has to be a sintered bushing on the other end...something.   Kevin

    Electrolux model 86

Daniel.... check the bearing on either end of the armature shaft.....check for any end play and lateral play. Separate the motor out,  put electricity to it (don't shock yourself!) and watch the armature....I think you'll see your answer. Bearing will do what you describe when they run...

    Very proud of his hose...

Yes..... please sir, I'll take 3!!   Kevin

    Lux Hoses

I..... certainly think there would be a LOT of suction loss with a hose that long on a canister vacuum! Prove me wrong?   Kevin
  14. R

    Lux Hoses

Agreed..... I've never heard of a LUX canister hose that long, but a 30' hose for their central  vac system, sure.   Kevin

    Has anyone tried this?

I..... knew several people who used Coke to get the bugs and junk off of fancy chrome grills, on cars. Of course they rinsed it off.  Try the "lab rat" and report back.   Kevin

General Electric Canister on Ebay! "Again"

The color.... the whole set-breathtaking!  I don't have the space, but I'd be hard pressed to turn it down at a yard/garage/estate sale. However, the higher prices on ebay coupled with substantial shipping and yeah, I'm good.   OK, OK....always a sucker for a good condition LUX G.   Kevin

    "The Vacuum Cleaner Parking Lot"

Absolutely..... Brian. And yes, the PN-1, especially the early, plastic non-telescoping model was pretty fragile. But they got better and I run one of the last PN-1's from a early 1205 set...in the blue/turquoise color. However, run a PN from an 80's Diamond J and it's stair companion Sidekick...

    "The Vacuum Cleaner Parking Lot"

Really.... nice LUX collection! The real star though is the G....for so many reasons, LOL. Yeah I know....highly subjective, but I always plug the G. Kevin

It's.... a "Christmas Story" moment for sure. Ralphie & his family would be proud.;-)

Help needed to find out about vacuum

Fred.... it was just a hunch. I prefaced it by saying; "Hope I'm wrong". You guys do a great job here-not implying otherwise! And please DON'T discourage any teen boys from posting here, We have an awesome crowd of VERY enthusiastic teen-boy vacuum collectors from what I can tell! If anything...
