No that is original. I think its just been washed and sun faded. 

I have tried it with drills. There isnt enough speed or power to them. The best way to go is either a bench grinder with polishing wheels or a angle grinder with polishing wheels.

I have a 8 inch bench polisher and a 14 inch polisher. They both do great, but they can be VERY expensive.

I charge 100 for a brand new transmission. I strongly think you should just have your current transmission rebuilt. That would cost 25 to 50 bucks depending on what really is wrong with it.

Thanks for the information! I wouldn't have ever been able to guess what a proof book is. As for coming to the convention and price of the dirt meter, I will be coming and the dirt meter is $25 plus shipping. It will include the paper pads for use.
