Les, It is a flat belt, I am trying to stretch a Eureka belt, from an old stash. I keep thinking it is too tight or too old to stretch. I am going to order a Tristar belt to see if that helps. As for your tip, I have no idea what you are describing by using a flat head screwdriver.

I tried searching for a post with no luck. Can anyone give me any tips, advice, tool to use to stretch a new belt from the brushroll to the motor shaft?

Update I think my treatment worked. I ran the device inside a large tub, vacuum on it's side with door open for 30 minutes. Without opening the plastic covering, ran the device and the vacuum for a few minutes more. I left everything for about 30 minutes to permeate. I took the whole setup...
