    Your favorite Hoover Convertible

I just purchased a Hoover U4373 Convertible (I think it's 80's and later actually) but I'm so curious about these models in general -- what's convertible about them? ;) I can say that mine comes with the red outer cloth bag and it's a fill bag (it states "To Fit Hoover" so it must not be...

    EIO Varia

Thanks very much for the replies! I saw one at a Thrift Store for $10.00 US. It is missing the power nozzle and/or hose of any kind -- it's just the bottom of the unit. I'd say since parts/bags/filters are nearly impossible to get now, I'll just pass on it. I saw it was still there today --...

    Royal All-Metal 884 Advice Needed

Thanks for the advice! The vacuum definitely sounds loud and powerful (like my other Royal). I checked the brush roll settings and both sides are set for "1." I looked at it from the side and there's brush exposed, so I think that's the right setting for it (the brush roll looks fairly new)...

    Royal All-Metal 884 Advice Needed

(I wish you could edit your posts on here!). One thing I should point out is the belt I was given seems to be made of Vinyl vs. Rubber. Did I get quasi-scammed or is that normal?

    Royal All-Metal 884 Advice Needed

I just double-checked and on the bag it says "Royal Prince II." Apparently this model was released at the beginning of the 80's, so I just made it into the right forum! If only I had looked at the big letters on the bag vs. the tiny model number on the bottom first. :P

    Royal All-Metal 884 Advice Needed

First, I hope I'm in the right place. I'm not sure if this model was made after 1980 or not. :) The model number is 884. I purchased one yesterday from a Thrift Store. I was thrilled with the condition and couldn't pass it up! The prongs on the plug were broken off, so I had to replace the plug...

    EIO Varia

Anyone know if EIO is a reputable company? I know Overstock.com and Allergy Buyer's Club was selling this unit a few years ago for around $699. But I've been reading that attachments, belts, and bags are now impossible to find in the United States. I saw one today at a Thrift store and decided...

    Hoover Commercial Vac U704

I'm thinking now that I must have really screwed up the model number when I wrote it down. I opened the outer bag and saw an inner bag (couldn't find the bag type code on it). But when I search for U7041 and examine the parts list, it may be a bagless?

    Hoover Commercial Vac U704

Oops! I mean U7041. Left that last digit out when I wrote it down...just remembered it! Thanks!

    Hoover Commercial Vac U704

I was at a Thrift Store today and saw a "almost decent" Hoover Commercial Vacuum for $20. Price seemed high (?), so I wrote down the model number from the bottom and came home to research it. The model number is U704 and apparently it does not exist. Does anyone know what type of bag the Hoover...

    new royal clone

I've always been curious...how do you empty one of those bagless twill thinga-ma-jeeps? It seems like all of the dirt would stay near the bottom, and when you detach it the dirt would just dump out. Assuming there's an answer for that, I still don't see how you would empty it. Do you have to...

Anyone know what kind of vac this is?

Dang, and Mrs. Doubtfire supervising the whole event! ;)

    Kirby Shine (Keeping it Up)

WOW indeed. That is amazing! When I saw the first pic, before I scrolled down I thought (yeah, GOOD luck on that one). Jaw has now completely hit the floor. SO ummmmm....yeah. I think I'll have to take your advice. ;)

Any way to remove kind of deep scratches from one? I'm kind of nervous to use steel wool.

Royal Metal Vacuum Upright - oil?

Thanks for the advice! I was SO close to putting WD-40 in there. Glad I didn't! :)

Royal Metal Vacuum Upright - oil?

I have a Royal Metal Vacuum Upright that I was polishing this evening and I noticed there is a small pipe that I am assuming is for putting oil in the motor. I looked at a parts list and noticed there is supposed to be a cover for that pipe but mine does not have it. Should I put oil in it ? --...

    Kirby Heritage

In the picture I have linked at the bottom of my post, what is the part called with the brass/copper looking strips? I took a Kirby G4 in for service a few years ago and the guy opened it up and showed me how mine was "going bad" and it quickly needed service. I could see little scorch marks on...
