    Well, scratch one Kirby...

@human I have a couple of Kirby Heritage I's. 2 I have used for work. One needs a good cleaning up however still very service able. 1 needs a handle spring. I could part with. I have to stay on a roll. I just bought eariler this summer a 2001 addition from a rummage sale and shipped it to a...

    Next Kirby?

Rainbow was long over due to increase the airflow and suction power of the vacuum. According to what has been posted here there is supposed to be a 30% increase. A light bulb in the water pan hardly improves it's over all performance. I for one wasn't impressed by the redesign of the power...

Why I think canisters aren't popular in United States anymore

Personally I find canister vacuums a pain to manipulate around furniture. The power unit gets caught on the furniture as you move around. Also my preferred cleaning pattern is starting in the far corner of a room and vacuum walking backward out of a room. Hence an upright lends itself well to my...

    Next Kirby?

@Oreck XL Part of the Kirby's down sizing dealers is the change in floor coverings. Many home owners have gone to hard surface floors. Thus no real need for a vacuum that can suck the dust mites out from under the sissel mats on the floors in china at the same time they are vacuuming the carpet...

    Next Kirby?

One thing you can't argue is that Kirby and Rainbow haven't compromised their principles. Neither has sold out to a conglomerate like TTI. Unlike so many other at one time popular brands. No one other than the purchaser decides what the machine is worth to them. Unlike the biggest retailer...

    Hamilton Beach Model 14

@lesinutah For some time James Kirby did design vacuums for other companies while he perfected what is now known as the Kirby Vacuum. Apex was one company he designed vacuums for and a few others. I don't remember the other ones. It is possible that this one is one of his designs or similar.

I just shipped a Kirby 2001 limited edition From Milwaukee Wisconsin to Woodstock Georgia thru the post office. $70.00. Total weight of the box was 44 lb. In the box was the hose, attachments, zip brush, Shampooer and 12 disposable bags, owners manual, owners video and 5 belts. Also a standard...

    Plaster Dust Test

@blackheart As a side note this isn't any worse than all the harping about the Kirby needs to be completely redesigned that we seem to hear every year or two. It is a Kirby Leave a time tested and proven design that works alone.

    Plaster Dust Test

My Kirby Heritage II did well with picking up the dust from sanding joint compound. Used the Micron Magic bags and had no issues at all. I skim coated the walls in the kitchen then sanded them down to smooth out and rolled on a sand coat for texture. Also used a Kirby Classic model with the H...

    Ideas from Moderneezer

It looks like a good idea. My question is how are you attaching the extensions? Snap together? Screws to secure the components? Please keep in mind people are hard on equipment Some can even damage an anvil with a rubber mallet.

    Consumer Reports

@n0oxy Yes you are right I could have a central vacuum and have even thought about it. How ever I would still have to run a power cord to the nearest outlet. Also the closet has a bit of every thing in it. To store the power unit plus hose and accessories would take up more space in the closet...

    Consumer Reports

CR will look at price points that will appeal to the masses. Then make recommendations for those products. The High end equipment will get an honorable mention. How ever be bashed at the cost failing to mention that In door to door sales is no different that buying an automobile. You can haggle...

    Consumer Reports

I never really agreed with CR myself. As a user of high end vacuums mostly Kirby's their recommendations just didn't fit my personal experience. It is true most complaints about any piece of equipment is by people that don't know what they really have or just don't take the time to learn basic...

    Consumer Reports

Maybe some of you have seen this or maybe not. I haven't seen the complete list myself. However it does sound like they are also looking at longevity and reliably these days when they are making recommendations for product lines. Maybe this is something that can help turn the market around for...

I got a Filtropur! (Aeropur, FVS)

From the video I saw on the Filtropur It looks like the brush roll may be installed backwards on your machine if that is possible. Some newer machines have end caps that will only fit one way in the machine housing. In the video you can see when they show the under side of the power head that...
