....from the desk of Henry Dreyfuss:

How about this one? :-) This Western Electric 302 was designed by Henry Dreyfuss, too! ~~K~~

    "New" Constellation

$500...maybe more!! You just don't find those kind of things every day! It sure is a beauty, though! ~~K~~

    Another bit of Sweeper Serendipity!

Charles, My first vacuum, as you might remember, was a Franken-Kirby with a 515 nameplate on it. I am so glad to finally have seen a 100% original 515 with boxes! I have already saved that picture to my computer! Congratulations, and in my opinion, I think you ought to buff it out and save the...

    What Kinda Convertible is this

Amen, Chad!! If they had the courage (and faith!) to make a decent vacuum, it'd be amazing! No frills, just get's the job done! An aluminum base would be sufficient...it'd be thousands of dollars for a titanium base! :-) Whatever they'd choose, it'd better not be pot metal! A fantastic idea...

    Archaeological Kenmore find

I definitely don't think it's worth it to restore. I mean, it's truly in awful condition. Maybe some parts are salvageable? I wouldn't have the guts or time to restore something like that. Let us know what you end up doing with it! ~~K~~

    Polishing Plastic?

It's oxidation or UV damage, most likely...but sadly the only way to get that out is by sanding it and then polishing it. I am restoring a telephone right now that was badly "sun tanned" as the parts that wouldn't get much light were fine but the parts that did turned a much darker tan! I guess...

    Outrageous Shipping Costs

Oh, I know...I don't particularly want a new vacuum, as I mainly collect vacuums made prior to 1980 or so. The antique ones, however, are probably my favorite. My Kirby Dual Sanitronic 80 had a shipping cost of $60 or $70, if I recall. Luckily, it wasn't far from my friend in Georgia, so he...

    Outrageous Shipping Costs

I love eBay. I haven't had a lick of trouble yet. I think I found a good deal on this here Rainbow...but look at those shipping costs! Must be the new member thing or something! ~~K~~...

    Oh no, another one

You say you color-matched the paint...did you also get it put in spray cans? I am a bit curious on how you did this. We have an old spray gun for an air compressor. I'd like to give that a try painting a few vacuums someday. Just need some help with diluting the paint! The Hoovers look great...

    Heltp with polishing kirby!!!!

Well, buy some 1500 grit and 2000 grit...that should do it! You just have to work your way up, I suppose! I bet it'll work...that way you shouldn't have those spots anymore! ~~K~~
