Anybody know if replacement motor bearings are available for the Air-Way Sanitizor 55A? If not can they be serviced? How difficult of a job is it? Thanks! Mike

How do you adjust the height of your Kirby and other uprights?

I'm curious how some of you choose the best height on your uprights, especially Kirby's. Since I started with Royals with the screw knob adjuster and adjust-o-rite belt cover many years ago, I learned that it is important to have the right amount of airflow to achieve the best performance. I...

What model Kirby is this? 505 - 115?

Thank you! No it is not a factory rebiuld. When I found this 509 at the Goodwil outlet store it had the usual red trim and an ugly tan bojack bag and the motor growled a little. I did the prepwork of sanding the rough deep scratches. A friend who restores Kirby's sent out the large metal...

What model Kirby is this? 505 - 115?

Kennis The Sani-em-tor rotates and locks on the fan case the same way your bag does. You can get a new black cloth bag and hanger made by Kirby for the early 500 series models. I recently restored a 509 and used one (pictured below). I believe the emtors might be interchangable on the 505-515...

what vacuums do you use the most?

I usually use either my Royal 2028 or Kirby Legend II downstairs. I am finding the sound of the big Kirby to be relaxing and am using it more often. Ocassionally I rotate the Royal Everlast 8400. Upstairs I rotate the older Royal"s (215, 880, 886, 2000) and older Kirby's (509, 560, D80). The...

    favorite vacuum older than you

Mine is my Royal 215. It is probably up to 5 years older than me. I also enjoy using my 1949 Kirby 509 and late 1930's Eureka Model M. They all work as well as I do!.

    Favorite Vacuum

My favorite vacuum is Royal. I have at least 15 now ranging from a late 40's-52 model 215 to a 2005 8400. I appreciate the way Royal has maintained their design integrety through the years while still making them stronger in most ways. At the same time i have come to appreciate Kirby's too...

Kirby - Electrolux - Royal Anniversary - Fisher

"Screamer" refers to both loud and powerful. The 9amp Royals sound like they are in a race to vacuum every bit of dust from the carpet as fast as possible! I have a similar model 2000 with an 8.7 amp drop in motor, and while all of my other lower rated Royals (2.8, 3.0, 4.5, 6.0,7.5, and 8.0...

    most looked for machine ever

For a long time I searched for a Royal 215. I finally found one at the Goodwill outlet store in nearly mint condition except that it was missing the belt cover. A year later I finally found one but had to buy the whole vacuum to get it. Fortunately the wrong bag on it was just the bag I needed...

    Kirby Legend II motor problem

Power switch meltdown It was the power switch! The burnt smell should have been the clue. The power cord is a little charred too.

Lots of recent new additions to my collection

Ben Yes I did find the shake out on ebay. I also bought the NOS bag for the 2028 on ebay. In answer the the polishing question, like I said I don't know who he sends polishing to. Evan sends large quanities of parts at a time. Besides, we trade services. I paint Kirby soft trim to...

Lots of recent new additions to my collection

Kirby Legend II I have always said that I have no interest in the newer larger Kirbys past the D80. But when I found this beautiful Legend II complete with the tools I had to have it! I have since added the matching rug renovator and floor polisher as well as the zip brush and sander.
