    hoover sovereign.......

Jason acquired the vacuum from me. I found it in a thrift store here in Kansas City. I was shocked to find something so rare in that particular store. It was just a lucky day I guess. I didn't know much about it other than I had never seen one in person and I figured it was a British made...

Jim Kirby's Vacuum Collection for Sale

Phillip, Kenny and I made another trip to the storage facility to pick a few vacuums we didn't get the first time. There are quite a few still there so if you see something you want contact Russ. Russ asked me what to do with the vacuums that no expresses interest in? I didn't have a very good...

Jim Kirby's Vacuum Collection for Sale

I was a part of a recent journey to Emporia Kansas to check out Jim Kirby's vacuum collection. Jim is in an assisted care facility and really needs to get rid of most of his vacuum collection. Those attending with me were Rick Asquith, Phillip Muller and Kenny Loveland. We each took home a few...

    Kirby Model 509

Looks beautiful. I've been polishing up some of my Kirby's in my collection lately too. I just finished up my 508 but I don't really have a good bag for it yet. Strange as it may seem, I found black bags for my C's/505 before I found gray bags for the 508 and up series. But it seems that the...

    Kirby 562 (Sanitronic) Question

I have had a 562 in the past. I unfortunately sold it to a friend. It was in great shape when I got it but I took it apart and polished it up. It was a complete set with all the boxes and accessories. I do believe the headlight trim was a different color than the later Sanitronics. I don't think...

    TriStar CXL Turbo Tool?

My dad found me some Tristars and it was in with all that stuff. One was a CXL and one was a DXL and I have no idea which vacuum it came with. I must say I have never seen another one so it must be fairly rare.

    TriStar CXL Turbo Tool?

Here is the Tri Star Turbo Tool. I have never used it as I have used one just like it that wasn't labeled Tri Star and it really didn't work very well. I would say the Kirby Turbo tool is better than this thing is.

    Kirby Rubber Hose

That hose would go to a Model 505. I have some older C hoses and they don't have the multi colored stripes like this one. I don't know of any way to make them more flexible. I have several hoses like it myself that I wish I could make more flexible. Mark's hose above is for a 509-512 Kirby. The...

Help I.D. an upright vacuum and solve a mystery

I would guess the vacuum is a Model 589. It looks more pink than purple to me. That model was built from 1969-1971.

    Question about old Kirby

This vacuum is just an "R" model. He gave us the serial number that starts with "R". The 2R serial number would start with "2R" and so forth. You can also tell it is an "R" by the scrolled headlight. The only Kirby model to have that style of headlamp was the "C" model and its sister, the "R"...

Air Way Twin Motor Upright Brushroll help

I somewhat recently acquired an Air Way Twin Motor Upright. I had to do some work on the power nozzle motor(thanks Marty K.!) and now I need some help with the brushroll. It looks like it is missing the bearings on each end of the brushroll. Can anyone help me with pics of what they look like...

    kirby rebuild

From what I have heard you have to send in a complete Kirby to get it rebuilt for the price that is in the owner's manual. Since you sent it in without the bag, I believe they will charge you extra for replacing the bag. The bag they will send it back with will be black, not an original style...

    A rare kirby!!

James, did I send that to you? I know I found it searching the web one day. I thought it was quite strange to be 230V and in Africa of all places. I just couldn't Imagine Kirby selling vacuums back then there. I'm glad you got it. I have a 508 myself but its not all original yet. But they seem...

    The Kirby 2R is restored!

Yes, Brian, you are correct. The "R" series Kirby's had the switch in the handle. They are pretty rare which is why you probably haven't seen that many of them.

    The Kirby 2R is restored!

Terry, I did use a bench grinder with buffing wheels to polish it up. This machine had lots of scratches, maybe the worst one I've polished up. So yeah, it took quite a while to get all or most of the scratches out of the aluminum. Chad
