    Kirby Classic III Restoration

I usually turn the bag inside out to clean the insides or sometimes just stick a hose with a turbo tool or upholstery nozzle on it through the bottom opening to vacuum the dirt.

    Large Convertible Haul

Interestingly enough, I have found no less than four Model 34 Convertible's in my travels. One being the one Kenny has. So my town must have sold a ton of that model where I live.

What model of Kirby do these hoses go with??

Phillip, the hose on the left goes to the 562. The other one I would bet is using the original hose ends for a Sanitronic VII or a Dual 50. In fact, it might be a Rainbow hose because it reminds me of one of those. Since its light tan it might be off the D2 model. The hose for the Sanitronic...

    Air-Way beater-bar problem

Looks good to me Bernie! Like Charlie said, no one will probably even know what the original bumper should look like. I'll have to find out how you fashioned the bumper as mine needs one too. Chad

    Mystery Hoover Brush Roll

Thanks Chris, you are right. I just switched the endcaps and now it fits like it should. I guess this brushroll was made for several models and depending on what model you have determines where the endcaps need to go. Thanks again. Chad

    April Fools?

I don't think its a joke. That is way too high of a price for the condition its in. Its not all complete and it has wrong parts so its not all original. I can't think of what in the auction would make it worth that much. It looks like the trim is tan not red, but the pics aren't that good so...

    Mystery Hoover Brush Roll

I bought an NOS Hoover Brush Roll off of Ebay a while back thinking it would fit my Hoover 63 or 64. However, it does not. The endcaps seem to be correct but the brush roll seems bigger around than what should go into a 63 or 64. The little bar in the middle that protects the belt hits the...

    Kirby Sanitronic VII

I sometimes find bulbs at estate sales/thrift stores. I recently stumbled upon a huge quantity at Worldwide Liquidators or Cummins tools, I think they are probably the same company. When I was there all the bulbs were half off or something like that and I picked up a bunch for 40 cents a piece...

    Hoover Constellation

Ryan, another great first canister vacuum would be a Compact or a Tristar. They are really simple in design but powerful and all around great vacuums. Lots of collectors have them in their collections. You might have an easier time finding one of them than a Constellation. The Tristar is just...

    Kirby Research Project

I have actually seen advertisements for Kirby from their early days. Some were asking people to let the Kirby guy into their home to see the demo. I believe some of them are in the rotation for vacuum of the day. I have also seen some ads on Ebay. The ads that I have seen do not have a picture...

A question about TriStar different years ...and

Here is a link to Tristar USA's parts page, with a diagram of the 2-101 Power Nozzle illustrating the geared belt. Right below it is a diagram of another model with a smooth belt. I wonder if they they discontinued the geared belt and reintroduced a flat belt before switching to the black...

A question about TriStar different years ...and

And here is the model number from my CXL Tristar. Its 2-1000 which does not match the one that Kenny has. I once sold a Tristar DXL with a geared belt nozzle on Ebay and I needed a belt for it. I went to the Tristar distributor in my town and the guy said that there was not a silver Tristar...

    Kirby Classic 3 Handle Problem

Sounds to me like the Handle spring tube is what is broken on his vacuum. I have my Classic Omega apart and was trying to put the handle pin in and found the same thing, the pin wouldn't go all the way in. I took it apart and the tube that the pin goes through is broken on the other side of the...

    Kirby Vacpot

About 4 years ago, I met up with a guy near me that had a huge collection of Kirby's. He was trying to liquidate them then as he didn't really have the space to keep them. So he enlisted me to help place some of his Kirby's with collectors which I did. I only really got rid of about 5 Kirby's...

"Impulse" lunch break auction buy - Compact Revolution

Great find Alex, I don't think I have seen the tool carrier box for a compact. The tools look like they are in pristine condition. Chad

    Kirby Classic III rebuild

I have removed many a pin on the headlight in my restorations. The pin is made to come out. There is a U shaped clip that is inserted between the pin and the motor housing to put tension on the pin which keeps the headlight from flopping around loosely. I would not be afraid to remove it. Chad
