Yesterday, I shopped the World's Longest Yardsale. I started in Signal Mountain, TN, and ended in Crossville, TN. I got a 1982 Eureka ESP, and a Hoover 70, both in deplorable condition for a dollar each*. I also got an Aerus Electrolux caddy with a hose and Sidekick for $10*, a 175 watt mercury...

This is why I use Blue Magic I gave the D50 a quick and dirty polishing today. I did it by hand using Blue Magic. The stuff absolutely obliterates oxidation on Kirby's. It only took me about 30 minutes the do the D50 with paper towels and a rag.

Motor work I took the D50 apart today and cleaned it out. I repacked the bearings with white lithium grease, and boy does the motor purr. All I have to do now is polish it. Unfortunately, the glowing Kirby light melted slightly, and the word Kirby is obscured.

Nope The Rainbow has one long cord that goes from the machine all the way to the power nozzle. No pigtails.

Tape These have a problem with the plastic strip breaking off, and tape is the cheap solution. And you have to have the strip, or else it will expose a bunch of holes where air can get through.

I have one That I got at Jon's house during Convention. It's not usable right now, the fans are very dirty (so I've been told) so it vibrates horribly. On top of that, the PN motor quit. Now I have to fix that too.

Thanks, Michael I'll be sure to take plenty of before and after pictures for you. The light bulb was so old snd brittle that when I tried to take it out, it shattered. Luckily I did not get cut. That happened to me on an Electrolux Epic upright many years ago.

I got this at an estate sale today at the eleventh hour for $20. They had it priced at $100, but I talked them down to $20. The bag was absolutely beyond full. Any more updates on this machine? Do we know what was causing the problem in the first place? I'm quite interested to see why a near brand new machine would be doing this, especially since I'm doing a lot more work on Rainbows now.

Update My boss called me today and said that he had two MORE Rainbows for me to clean - and boy are these filthy. They're both E2 Gold, so they should be a piece of cake. He's paying me a pretty penny to fix them since they're so dirty. He said he wanted them just as clean as mine. However...

Thank you! Yes, I did blow out the controllers, but not with compressed air. I used to have some canned compressed air, but it ran out. Now I just need to learn how to tear apart a D series. My D4 and D3 both need some work. Especially my D3 with its vibrating problem.

I won't be doing anything with this machine. I plan to sell it at the 2017 VCCC Convention in Tulsa. I have no interest it bagless vacuums such as this. I only bought it because I know some folks like these and somebody might want it.

Update I called my local Rainbow dealer (soon to be Boss) and he said the pulsing was most likely a controller about to fail. So I have THAT to look forward to. I'm taking the machine tomorrow so he can take a look at it, and I'm also going to get information about selling Rainbows.
