    Kirby 505 question

Lesinutah So let me ask you then, Les. Do you know where I could find a black duvetyne bag at a FAIR price? I have so many bojacked early 500 series machines and a 1C that's missing a bag. I don't have ANY machines with the original black bag. Sadly, many were lost in the rebuild process.

    Kirby 505 question

Unfortunately, it would cost a king's ransom to convert it back to how it looked originally, the correct 505 bags are as rare as hen's teeth. A nice looking machine no doubt but bojacked Kirby's (even a 505) are a dime a dozen. What's more, if the original builder's plate was removed (or...

    Consumer reports

I don't know where it originated but I can tell you the meaning. The metaphor is that "sheeple" need to be TOLD what brand to buy versus making an informed decision on their OWN. And yes more often than not they are wrong....

The Hoover Special / What did I just buy?

Hoover Specials Hoover offered true rebuilt "Special" models up until the late '50's when Hoover stopped selling door to door. Here on the forum, I think the newest rebuilt Special I saw was a model 61, which if discontinued in 1949 was still a fairly new machine. I would have loved to been...

    Miele Canister Electric Hose

SES 100 hose Is what you're looking for. IIRC the Miele S246i Naturell came as a straight suction canister, but did have the port to plug in for an electric hose. No, Miele discontinued that some time ago (maybe like 3 years?). I would just use a straight suction hose or get a turbo...

    Downton Abbey

Gladys Luckie Was Liberace's cleaning lady. And she was one lucky lady to be cleaning with the very best! I could see Liberace's mansion cleaned by a GOLD plated Kirby.

    "Large Model XII"

The model XXX was probably the step-up. Were I around back then, I would've asked if they had any model V's lol.

    Whirlwind

Looks more like a straight suction Universal to me. I have a later Whirlwind with the revolving brush that is IDENTICAL to its Universal counterpart.

    Next Kirby?

They've had long enough to develop a new design.... We know that the Generation 3 was in the works since at least the days of the Heritage II (ala the Prometheus). And rolled it out on the 20th anniversary of the Classic platform. I hope by the 30th anniversary of the Generation 3 next year...

    Next Kirby?

It is a tried and true design, I will give you that. But could any other consumer product soldier on virtually unchanged for the past THIRTY years? Probably not. Take for instance, the automotive industry. Would you buy a car that looks essentially the same as the 1990 model if there are...

Why I think canisters aren't popular in United States anymore

Perhaps history will someday repeat itself In the 1950's canisters were all the rage as it was the new, modern way to clean homes. In reality, it was taking a step backward in terms of cleaning carpets. Straight suction alone is no where near as effective. The Electrolux model F and the...

    Next Kirby?

I really hope I'm wrong here, but in New York Kirby isn't doing well. The number of distributors is diminishing and I think they're gonna get the full mileage out of that Generation platform until they close their doors. We may see another variation or two of the Generation series before they...

This Hoover 69 packs a surprise inside....

Wow, I had no idea. Wonder if they made replacement bags using other prints on the inside? Seems a shame more than a quarter of a century later, as those bicentennial Hoovers are getting rarer all the time....

How old is my oreck vacuum

It was manufactured on the 128th day of 2008, so it's eleven years old. Orecks are good machines, provided they aren't abused. Many I have found in yard sales and thrift shops were in terrible condition because they were used and abused.

This Hoover 69 packs a surprise inside....

I just saw this Hoover model 69 on eBay. Clearly the bag is a replacement. But if you look inside it's the print from the bicentennial edition! Did Hoover have extra vinyl to make replacement bags? Has anyone else seen this before? - Hershel...

    Next Kirby?

I met with some fire and brimstone from the Kirby "die-hards" the last time I posted regarding this subject about how the Generation platform is tried and true, and Kirby WON'T come up with a new machine until they can come up with a better design. I myself feel 30 years is too long and the...

Picked up my first Hoover Convertible (U4171)

Not at all... In fact, Hoover's LAST convertible the RS convertible U4597 used this style of hood. That was in 1992. It made its debut on the 31 Special.

    NOS Hoover DAM u6039 pics

I absolutely LOVE the sea blue color of the U6039, and the decoration on the front exhaust cover. I didn't think a NIB Dial-A-Matic even still existed. You are lucky indeed! On as side note, what difference (if any) was there between the U6039 and the U6039-030? It almost looks as though...

The new Oreck I mean Hoover

I guess you could call it a Hoovreck! Lol

    Hamilton Beach Model 14

If that's true, then I would say he definitely had a hand in designing the Eureka model M. Even the molded handle grip seems Kirby-esque.
