    Not another Royal

If you have the money and you really want and think it's so nice it's worth it go for it. They are built like tanks and easy to repair and get parts for. Otherwise wait and watch Craigslist and like that and eventually a better deal on something similar will show up. I bought a 4650 canister for...

It's spring cleaning - and that means trash finds

The last free vacuum I found was on Craigslist a year or so ago when I found a Starks/Royal 5700 upright. Traded a few emails then guy called me and told me about it and said it was free of course seeing how it didn't list a price. I drove right out that weekend morning and picked it up complete...

    Robot Vacuum Debate

yet another robot... Well Woot did it again and had a robot with a brush roll and higher suction for 100 bucks so I got that one too. It cleans faster and get most of the crumbs off our carpet in one pass. It also tends to go in straight lines till it finds or hits something and turn till clear...

    Robot Vacuum Debate

We just recently got a Debot N78 basic robot vacuum. Found it on Woot for 90 shipped so figured it was worth a gamble even though we have low nap carpet throughout most of the house. Accidently figured out how to get it to automatically run everyday at a certain start time. It only has the...

Brand New Royal Pro Series Metal Upright and Old Royal 5700 (9700)

I got that exact vacuum I think last summer for free on Craigslist but mine has a black bag from some commercial version that the local bookstore here probably swapped onto it sometime in its career with them. It came with a bunch of extra bags and belts and the guy was very happy a person who...

royal all metal domestic upright cleaner

I found a 5700 on Craigslist last year for free. It's lighter than a Kirby and deep cleans and grooms the carpet just as well and the bags are cheap and hold a lot. If you can get one, even a older one with the smaller motors working well you should be happy if you can figure out the power plug...

Robot Vacuum Cleaners - Novelty or Useful Tool?

We just recently bought a Deebot N78 from Woot as a experiment seeing how it was only 90 shipped. Very basic machine with just the rotating round brushes and the suction port with a soft rubber port edge. It isn't designed to do low carpets and doesn't have room mapping but it eventually gets...

    Royal 2001SC

I have the Deluxe Royal/Starks 5700 upright with the 7 amp motor and chrome wheel covers, a Royal 4650 canister and a Compact C9. The upright is a beast on my carpet, the canister does almost as well and get corners better plus all the attachments for cleaning furniture and walls and things, the...

    Compact c5

If anything I like is truly a deal I shut my mouth and pay the money. If it's somewhat over priced I make a offer, if it's a stupidity high price I move on. It's worked for anything I've bought, cars, parts, electronics, vacuums, whatever. I used to be amazed the stupid prices people would pay...

    80V full size cordless canister!

Well that would be cool. I have a Rowenta 18 volt stick vac with a small power head and it will run half an hour but it doesn't like bigger chunks so more for quick touchups. I'm sure whether we get it or not it'll be expensive and it's not apparent if the battery can be swapped out for longer...

New Royal all-metal vacuum: impressions, hint, and question

I think the button should just start to suck in but you can experiment till it feels like it's working without tearing things up or being hard to push around. I have a Royal/Stark 5700 top of the line unit and I just played with it till it seemed to be cleaning well without bogging down myself...

Hoover Air Revolve Canister Vacuum - $34.99...

I signed up on their site If I'd known they were going to hit 9 bucks I'd have gotten one just because too, was tempting at 25 and at least one family member could use a new not antique vac right now. I told her about it but she never jumped in.

Direct Tools Strikes Again! 4 New Hoovers, 2 Steamers and a Dirt Devil

They just added a few decent cordless vacs and the one I was interested in sold out quickly and was listed for 9 bucks again. I signed up for for their site and newsletter seeing how it appears they have slowly dropping prices on lots of vacs and tools. Kinda like Harbor Freight with better...

    Good Groomer

A good upright like a Kirby or Royal would really groom that carpet, or whatever versions similar they sell on your side of the pond. I'm also partial to the earlier Royal power tanks with the power head over here as they do about the same as the Compact as I have both.

    Who has a daily driver?

I use my Royals, a 4650 canister, 5700 upright, and my mom's old Compact C9/Anthony James canister. Mom gave me her 501 as well for my birthday recently so I have one identical to the one in the first post here. I guess I need to make a thread about it but it's not as nice as the pictured one...

    New cord Compact Electra C9

Now that you've opened yours you can see as I did how simple these machines are. Easy to repair and parts seem reasonable and available. I use mine and my Royal upright alot lately and they compliment each other.

    Royal

I think the 5700 upright I was given has the 7 amp motor and its a beast. You can't use it on area rugs very easily either. The 4650 canister you can turn down the motor speed which helps, but the Compact C9 I have does them nicely as it's powerful but head is smaller and not quite as much suction.

Hoover Air Revolve Canister Vacuum - $34.99...

I certainly don't need any more vacuums but at that price shipped it certainly is tempting just because. I have a Royal 5700, 4650, 413, a Compact C9 rebadge I put a new motor in from mom, and she just gave me one of the Royal metal compacts she's had forever for me birthday, plus a Rowenta...

    Compact Tristar filtration

I bet it would cut down on suction and maybe let the motor get hotter but it probably would do a great job of filtering whatever is getting by your bag or the brushes on the motor.

    Hose extenssion Comacpt C9

I found out the powerhead for my 413 Royal canister uses the same plugs and sorta fits the metal pipes my C9 has when I was getting it running and it needed a new belt and maybe motor in the head. It worked well enough if I could keep them plugged together but I got a belt and that was all it...
