USA Semiquincentennial in 2026 - Anniversary Models?

Resurrect the Whirlpool Imperial complete with direct connect hose and the original L-shaped Whirlpool power nozzle. Even better, resurrect the mid 1980s Whirlpool FC7500 but make the hose out of modern durable material please.

CFM in isn't = cfm out?

To calculate cfm, take the airspeed shown on your anemometer in feet per minute and multiply that by the area of the orifice the air is being drawn through or exhausted from in square feet. There are websites that will calculate surface area in square feet from the diameter of the orifice (...

    Compact model C2

My C2 came with an olive green canvas inner bag and a vintage paper bag. Lid closes just fine. If the cloth bag is not there the lid is loose. I believe it is called a "Model 1", not a "C-1". I have one of those as well.

Cord Rewind problem on Lux Guardian Platinum

Renn / Epic 8000s have a lazy cord winder. Sometimes mine stops half way and needs a little coaxing.

    Aerus/LuxInternational discontinuation?

Lux International changed the color of the Intelligence from black to off-white trim to celebrate their 100th anniversary. It was called a "Jubilee" edition. Aerus had no choice but to adopt that color scheme as Kolektor stopped making the black parts. The new model was called the S115...

    Eureka Production Overview

Pretty hard to beat a Vactronic canister for usability. You can trim a Eureka OX bag mounting card to fit the old Eureka Type B/S bag mount and plop one of those dome shaped pleated HEPA pre-motor filters on one and use it as a daily driver. Still brush rolls and motors available for the old...

    Central vacuum recommendations.

So I test my vacuums with a suction gauge and anemometer. A Miracle Mate Platinum has average suction and airflow at the hose end, comparable to a top of the line 1980-81 Kenmore canister. Mine produces 62-64 inches of water lift and 41 cfm based on a measured 6200 ft per minute airspeed and a...

    Aerus/LuxInternational discontinuation?

I would not be too concerned about what the people who answer the phones at Aerus say. They are not well informed. I called them some years ago to ask a question about their Japanese market Tristars, which were at the time widely sold in Japan by Fuji Medical Instruments with Airstream...

    Aerus/LuxInternational discontinuation?

To be honest I think all three brands are grossly over priced for what you get. I have canister vacuums from all three companies. In terms of build quality and durability I rate Sebo and the two older Aerus models, the Classic and Legacy, equal. They all have little 40,00 rpm + screamer...

    Aerus/LuxInternational discontinuation?

I had likewise read all kinds of heresay about what Aerus does or doesn't make and whether or not Bristol was making vacuums at all. I tend to believe what this Aerus dealer tells me but who knows? Did he imagine a trip to Bristol? They were definitely making Tristar vacuums in Bristol...

    Aerus/LuxInternational discontinuation?

I am friendly with an Aerus dealer in Tennessee. He visited the Aerus factory in Bristol recently. He tells me that the G-Ps arrive in a crate from Slovenia where they are made and placed in an Aerus labeled box with the Aerus sourced hose, wands, power nozzle and attachments. If you look at...

    New Innovative Dyson FluffyCones PencilVac

I have been lurking on this discussion but have to add that I am pretty certain Panasonic first developed the idea of a conical brush roll to shed hair. I have had an example of one such Panasonic brush roll for probably five years in a small power nozzle. It was offered with one of their...
