    What are Oreck doing?

It’s amazing the important role Whirlpool played in the design and development of vacuum cleaners in the US. The name should be honoured right along with the likes of Hoover, Eureka, Singer and Electrolux.

(1980s) Viking 241 Electronic canister vacuum.

Re: Electrolux North America going retail. I remember seeing Electrolux power nozzle canisters being sold at Sears in Toronto in the 1990’s.

Sanitaire S490A -- Original Power Nozzle?

Here’s a great historical overview of the Progress company by a vacuum fan in Germany. I’ll never forget seeing one of those 1980’s Progress electric brooms labelled as a Eureka in one of our vacuum stores in Toronto. Here’s the website: https://www.staubsauger-progress.de

Sanitaire S490A -- Original Power Nozzle?

Yes - while Googling the German words “staubsauger Progress” to find images of various Progress cleaners, I came upon many websites showing the dustbags for this model. There were dustbag packages that listed all the Progress and Volta and Electrolux models that would take a single dust bag...

Sanitaire S490A -- Original Power Nozzle?

Eureka! I found it! This German-made Electrolux was originally made by the German Progress vacuum company….After Electrolux AB of Sweden gobbled up Progress, they started to relabel some of the Progress cleaners as Electrolux, Eureka and Sanitaire…the latter two brandnames slapped onto...

Sanitaire S490A -- Original Power Nozzle?

I know…I saw that…but the bags are made in Sweden….which means it’s not a regular American Eureka Bloomington design…the only European made Sanitaire canister I ever saw was a rebranded AEG canister married to an Express Power Nozzle….but I think that was made in Germany - it had two doors on...

Sanitaire S490A -- Original Power Nozzle?

I am trying to picture the Sanitaire S490. Does someone have a picture of the cleaner and the power nozzle? And was it an Express power nozzle?

Can anyone identify a vacuum by a handle?

I don’t know…I can’t see the lower half of the handle. I only see the very top. I think it’s an early maroon Panasonic Jet-Flo too.

    Electrolux vacuums to become extinct?

The American Electrolux/Aerus company may be fading into history. However, it is important to remember that the original Swedish Electrolux company (which gave birth to the American Electrolux company) is still in operation and sells vacuum cleaners under the Electrolux and AEG brandnames all...

New Miele Guard Series Now Available in Canada!

I don’t like that square single power control. If your eyesight is not good, it will be difficult to know which corner to press to turn on the cleaner or adjust the power. It will always be like “shooting in the dark”. Certainly bad for trying to use your foot to turn the thing off. And...

New Miele Guard Series Now Available in Canada!

Could Americans cross over into Canada to buy cheaper Mieles and Sebos and bring them back over the border? Would that void the warranties if there are any problems?

New Miele Guard Series Now Available in Canada!

Miele Canada’s website is now showing the new Guard series. The only model that interests me is the blue small S1 which still has all the old tools plus the better bag dock. Go to Miele.ca to see the full new lineup. Question: will the new 30% tariffs on imports to the USA affect prices on...

SEBO E3 vs SEBO E1 vs Miele c3 Parquet

My Miele C3 and Hoover Lightweight Bagged Platinum upright take up no more floor space than one power nozzle canister. Maybe 2 square feet with the Miele wand and carpet nozzle hooked onto the canister. But to each his own. I like having one of each type.

The Eureka Model 2097A Cordaway Upright

Hi Keith, Thank you for sharing these beautiful Eurekas with us! If I remember correctly, the Wide-Trak's attachment sets came in a special caddy because the pan converter and floor brush were extra wide. It could even be that I remember seeing some retro cardboard tool caddy for these extra...

SEBO E3 vs SEBO E1 vs Miele c3 Parquet

In Canada, you can get a nice little Miele C1 basic canister vac - with the tool holder on the hose end - for $399. A very good deal for a very good all around cleaner. Just make sure you reseat the bag collar into place every time you open the bag door cover.

SEBO E3 vs SEBO E1 vs Miele c3 Parquet

Sebo offers a nice Wessel Werk Parquet Twister bare floor brush that has no wheels. The Kombi tool can also be used on bare floors - you just push the slider switch over to push down a row of bristles that sweeps the floor. The stainless steel plate does not touch the floor when used with this...

SEBO E3 vs SEBO E1 vs Miele c3 Parquet

One thing is for sure: The Kombi tool on the Sebo is a more robust carpet and floor nozzle. It has two large wheels where the user pressure at the bottom end of the wand is most pronounced, and it still has a stainless steel shoe which helps reduce friction on carpeted surfaces. Miele has now...
