    Rebadges

Believe it or not, the best vacuum cleaner importing company about making it obvious what manufacturer produced the machine is Bissell. At the end of their serial numbers, they always include a code for the manufacturer. For example, E is Eup, S is Samsung, KCA is KingClean, MDA is Midea, and so...

    Rebadges

The Black & Decker AirSwivel and all the other things it has been called are made by Midea. I cannot help but notice that they tossed a better cyclone into the Eureka version.

What Motors Were Used In Electrolux Models and Aerus Models

I find it interesting that the Lux 5500 C141G came with the classic dual-stage motor while the oddball Lux 5500 C152C had the Domel/Electrolux motor and used a totally different model number despite being the same unit otherwise with the same model name. Aerus confuses me in general. The motors...

What Motors Were Used In Electrolux Models and Aerus Models

The Electrolux LE should not be noisy, so it may have an issue such as a bad bearing, dirt in the fan, or something along those lines. The dual-stage motors in the old Electrolux canisters were actually known to be relatively quiet for how powerful they were. You may ought to rebuild it or...

If you owned Hoover, what changes would you make?

I do not really care as much as some may about where the vacuum cleaners are made or whether they are bagged or bagless, but in the United States, I would just like to see them stop decreasing the build quality to the extent that they have. I receive so many of the new Hoovers, even ones that...

    Henry Quick

Them being manufactured by KingClean does not bother me all that much. KingClean, despite whatever reputation they may have, has produced competently designed and built units over the years and I know plenty of companies and brands such as Hoover, Tacony, Eureka, Bissell, Kenmore, Shark, and so...

Kenmore now selling tub style vacuums

I saw that! I have the Vacmaster VZA306P 1101, which is the Vacmaster version of the Kenmore KW3010, and it is actually a decent vacuum cleaner, especially for something that I got for around $50 on sale. It is powerful, quiet, has large bags, a tapered hose, and so forth. I saw some people say...

Shopping for a new bagless upright - Which one is best?

The Kenmore CrossOver line is actually quite solid. They were designed by Panasonic and carried over, with the DU3017 still being made by Cleva in one of their factories. It has a lift-away mode, a removable bottom plate and brush roll, relatively durable and long hoses, a multi-cyclonic bin...

What is the worst-performing vacuum cleaner that you've ever used?

wstonehockertv The Kenmore model I mentioned was most definitely not manufactured by Panasonic, but rather by the Chunju Electric Company of Suzhou, China. Not all Kenmore vacuum cleaners were made by Panasonic and it has always been that way. Even way back in the days when Whirlpool was...

What is the worst-performing vacuum cleaner that you've ever used?

That is interesting, because I have always found the Oreck XL Classics to clean carpet well for how little air they move and their lack of suction, the the Carpet and Rug Institute actually rates them quite highly in their scientific testing. I have used lots of really bad vacuum cleaners. The...

    Rare Shark Vacuums?

One of those 24-cyclone Infinity Sharks came into a vacuum cleaner shop local to me a couple years ago with an owner dead set on not giving up on it. Everything you can imagine would be broken on it was broken, but it still worked and managed to hold together through delicate use. I can see how...

    Unusual Kenmore canister?

I currently own both the Panasonic models like the ones in this thread and the 200/400 Series ones manufactured by Cleva, and I personally think the Cleva models are better. The only thing that is better about the Panasonic models is the on-board attachments and slightly better floor tool. I do...

    Unknown year for Oreck magnesium.

If you want to know the real age of the unit, the motors usually have some kind of date on them, although it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.

    Panasonic MC-2730/Jet-Flo 170 Canister

That is quite an interesting canister! I have a very similar one laying around, although mine is missing the attachment door and most of the attachments. I can imagine that the attachment doors going missing was a somewhat common occurence due to the lack of hinges.

I don't see this ending well

I know of a lot of places near me that are hugely into the Tacony cordless uprights, so I think the Hoover/Oreck version would be a great cheaper alternative to those. For example, one of my local major airports near my house has a bunch of the Tacony models, and they are wonderful for getting...

Canister vacuums are they actually good at deep-cleaning carpets

I mean, that is quite the generalization. There are uprights that perform poorly on carpet and canisters that perform excellently on carpet. Like with anything, you just have to buy the right ones. Heck, even the $200 Kenmore canister from Walmart cleans carpet as well as any upright.

    Shark Vacuum Fascination

People like them because they sell nice looking products with features that are appealing to customers. Putting all personal opinion aside, features such as powered lift-away mode, the DuoClean heads, quick draw wands, anti-wrap technology, sealed systems, bagless bins, odor reduction, and so...

    Caddy Vac Fan Stuck

Did you put the washer that goes between the fan and the bearing back into it? If not, then it would make the fan too close to the back of the housing. Is the fan actually melted to the motor? I have only ever gotten one Hoover Elite that had the fan fused to the motor, and that was because the...

Why do bypass vacuums have such terrible deep-cleaning performance?

I do not think that all clean air or bypass designs do a bad job at cleaning carpet. In fact, there are quite a few that I have owned that clean absurdly well. For example, the Kenmore 31150/BU1017/BU1018 is a budget vacuum cleaner that I have found to outperform quite a few direct-air machines...
