    Thoughts on Trebor's Sanitaire modification.

The holes in the front... are unattractive to the customer, and potentially weaken the plastic where it can be rammed into obstacles.

    Thoughts on Trebor's Sanitaire modification.

More musings from the engineering muse... ...drilling the hole at an angle lengthens the 'tube' as well. What about little teeny-tiny trumpet like things that would direct the airflow down into the carpet? Something like a hollow golf tee? Wouldn't it be great fun to have an engineering...

    Thoughts on Trebor's Sanitaire modification.

Fascinating... 1/16" hole = .0031 sq in, circumference of 0.196" 3/32" hole = .0069 sq in, circumference of 0.296" 1/8" hole = .0123 sq in, circumference of 0.393" Divide the area by the circumference and the ratio increases, divide the other way and the ratio decreases. 3) 1/16" holes...

Thank you, Gsheen... That is indeed the site. Interesting how many different brands are represented on their web page.

    Thoughts on Trebor's Sanitaire modification.

Further musings and... a bit more math. The 1/16" holes will be quite small, and perhaps prone to clogging? What about 3/32" holes? These would have a circumference of .296" and a surface area of .0069 sq. in. So the circle with a 1/2 again as large a diameter than 1/16" has a surface over...

    Thoughts on Trebor's Sanitaire modification.

I am wondering... Perhaps three 1/16" holes per side would be sufficient. You are right about the drag factor (no comments, please) circumference of a 1/16" diameter hole = 0.196" x 2 = 0.392 circumference of a 1/8" diameter hole = 0.393" This is the perfect example to illustrate the...

    Thoughts on Trebor's Sanitaire modification.

Oops... Mea Culpa! I forgot to square the radius... DUH! 1/16" hole = .0031 sq in 1/8" hole = .0123 sq in SO, it would take approximately FOUR 1/16" diameter holes to equal the surface area of ONE 1/8" diameter hole. As the place guard said to Judy Garland in the Wizard of Oz, "Now that's a...

Is the Aerus (electrolux) brand disappearing?

If only one of us... in this club could be in control of the company, then Lux could be restored back to its former glory. I guess that’s just wishful thinking though." Yes, it is. In 2000 I was flown to Lux HQ in Bristol, VA by James McCain, then chief of operations. I am the only person...

    Thoughts on Trebor's Sanitaire modification.

1/8" gives the best bang for the buck... and is easiest to do. Two 1/16" holes have almost the same surface area as one 1/8" hole. So theoretically it should make little to no difference. However, now I am wondering about the airflow vs. suction curve. The two 1/16" holes have an...

    Recreating/repairing vintage sateen bags

There is a product which will bond fabric to fabric... however, the edges are usually bound with satin stitching. The heat activated adhesive will not permit air to pass through and thus put strain on the rest of the bag, problematic if the bag is an antique. There have been amazing advances...

Is the Aerus (electrolux) brand disappearing?

What on earth do you mean...? and not having to return it to the rightful owner a few years ago... Electrolux America legitimately struck a deal with Electrolux AG of Sweden for the exclusive use of the name 'Electrolux' in the USA and Canada. It was valid, legal, and binding. In fact Lux of...

    Thoughts on Trebor's Sanitaire modification.

What makes the modification effective... is the fan is fed more air, which in turn causes the agitator to keep spinning. As to the matter of dirt moving from further away before the mod: part of the vibration is caused by the machine breathing intense little gasps of air due to the tight seal...

Is the Aerus (electrolux) brand disappearing?

Aerus is struggling... When Electrolux America sold their name back to the Swedish group, it was all over. The selling price was 55 million, Joe Urso's initial investment. His take for the three years he held the reigns: about 50 million. Initially, the branch managers were asked to pay...

hard surface flooring adaptors for upright vacuums

Just looked at the bottom of a Royal lightweight... same as a Hoover Clean n' Light. Take a squeegee blade and make two small U shaped cuts to go over the dividers in the nozzle opening, and attach narrow extra-strength Velcro in-between the cuts, and between the dividers. The squeegee will...

hard surface flooring adaptors for upright vacuums

and the Hoover flair... would accept a wand so you could use a dust brush or crevice tool. An upholstery tool would fit on the cleaner end. Just a thought.

hard surface flooring adaptors for upright vacuums

I would use industrial strength Velcro... or two screws, or somthting to mount a floor brush to a Filter Queen straight suction rug tool with a rubber squeegee glued to it. I can see it in my mind. When I get to work tomorrow I'll see if I can be a bit more specific and post.

    Venson...

Another piece of the puzzle... I'm pretty sure it had to do with the source for Fakir vacuum cleaners. There was a link in the post to a mfg website home page, and then the products page showed a variety of types of vacuums, with verbiage about the private label options.

Vacuuming Carpet vs. Area Rugs: same thing or different requirements?

Venson... It had to do with manufacturing and outsourcing. The Dutch mfg. outsources vacs to its, or a facility in China and private labels them. Oreck was not specifically mentioned in the post, but when I clicked on the link and looked at the available product I saw what I swear were the...
