    My newest Hoover

Very nice find! That same model was used in the 1970s sitcom Maude, in the episode "The Household Feud." After knocking over the urn which contained the ashes of her housekeeper's late husband, Maude used it to vacuum up the ashes! Fortunately, at the beginnning of the episode, the housekeeper...

Owners with Multiple vacuum... is there a goto one?

Of the 12 Hoover models I own, my go-to cleaner is my Guardsman C1631 commercial upright. Besides being very durable and convenient to use, it does a stellar job of deep-cleaning my carpet. Unlike many older direct-air designs, it also has surprisingly good hose suction, which is a major help in...

    Auto bulbs in my Kirby

Gmerkt The style number of the correct bulb is Type 912, which are made by several manufacturers including GE, Phillips, and Sylvania.

Some HOOVERS from my recent trip to Ohio.

Guardsman69 That is indeed great news! I cannot wait to see the improvments that are coming for Hoover, which has long been my favorite vacuum cleaner brand. ( I own 12, what does that tell you? :-) ) Please keep us posted. Long live Hoover!

Something I think is incredibly rare...

The L-shaped structure on which the power switch is located is actually a cord storage hook. There was also another Kirby Comvac model, the 1300, which was finished in the same color scheme as the Kirby Heritage 1HD, but with the 13" carpet nozzle (also non-removable), and the same style of...

    News About The Hoover T-Series

Actually, it's Knapp-Monarch, a small appliance company acquired by Hoover in 1969.

Love the look of this Hoover

The Hoover Convertible 1060 was made from 1966-1968. The color names are Autumn Gold and Medium and Deep Seal Greige.

Zen and the art of Vacuum Cleaner repair

With incandescent household lamps and lighting fixtures, there is always a warning posted not to exceed the rated wattage when replacing their bulbs due to the risk of fire (e.g. a 100-watt bulb in a 60-watt lamp.) I'm not sure if the small, low-voltage wedge-base bulbs would pose the same risk...

    Hoover convertible

Squarehandle Are you referring to the handle bail itself, or to the square projection I described? If you meant the bail itself, its purpose is actually a carrying/stair cleaning handle.

    Hmmmm

Rob (Durango159) The official Hoover color names for.that model (S3079) are Mint Green over Holly Green with Oyster White trim. So you were pretty close with Mint chocolate chip green!

    Hoover Decade 800 Clone

I agree! Industrial designer Richard Wareham created two very handsome designs with the full hood Convertible and Decade series designs, in addition to the equally handsome Concept One. Henry Dreyfuss would be proud!

    Hoover convertible

Actually, on front-conversion Convertible and Decade 80 uprights, the higher speed is engaged when the handle is raised to the locked upright position. Merely attaching the hose was not enough, as it was on the older rear-conversion models. How it worked on the front-conversion models was, when...

    Hoover Decade 800 Clone

Nice job on the Decade 800! By the way, is that a model C1631 I see in the upper right corner of that photo? If so, I have that same model, and I LOVE it!

    Calling all Hoover canister owners!

Here's my Hoover Dimension 1000 S3277, styled in the fetching color scheme of Cashmere Blue and Blue Shadow, with Deep Blue trim.

    Penncrest Convertible

That's one of the cleaners featured in Penney's Spring and Summer 1969 catalog, for the princely sum of $49.87, along with a similar model with a cord reel and headlight, which sold for $66.87. Quite a find, indeed!

Eureka Roto-Matic Power Team Model 1255

1926700 Is that an ad for the model 1246, or the actual specification sheet? If so, I'd love to see the other side! (I recently tried downloading a number of Eureka canister spec sheets from automaticephemera.com, but neither my smart phone nor my Kindle will let me view them!)

Some HOOVERS from my recent trip to Ohio.

Concept One U3315-070 I actually have this model and, quite frankly, I cannot see any difference between this model and those with the Quadraflex agitators as far as carpet cleaning performance is concerned. Both do an excellent job!

who know about a regina electrikbroom?

The Regina Electrikbroom was introduced in 1945 and continued in the above design (albeit with numerous cosmetic changes and various features added over the years) until 1992, when it was completely redesigned as a hardbody cleaner which used disposable bags. That incarnation continued until the...

    1963 Kenmore upright

Very nice cleaners! Glad to see those classics are in the hands of someone who appreciates things that are made to last.

    1963 Kenmore upright

If you get a chance, I'd like to see that page. Meanwhile, best of luck in your search for that 1963 Kenmore. I wish I could help you with that, but the oldest Kenmores I've ever seen in my general vicinity are the Duo-Power hardbody uprights-and quite infrequently at that.
