    Early Easter present...

Durango159 Speaking from personal experience, I believe you would be most impressed by the performance of either the 4-row Hoover or CWP agitators. I have a Guardsman with the Hoover steel 4-brush agitator, as well as two older Hoover Convertibles with the CWP agitator, and all three do a...

"The Vacuum Cleaner - A History" by Carroll Gantz

One other Hoover design created by Carroll Gantz was the small square Convertible motor housing, first used on models 1010 and 1060 in 1966.

    Hoover Duster?

In regards to the Hoover Duster's carpet nozzle, it would be a very useful attachment even if you already owned a Hoover upright for carpet cleaning since, with that low-profile nozzle attached to the long, slim wands, you can use the Duster to reach under beds, bureaus, and other low pieces of...

    Cleaning it "OLD School"

Congratulations on your new Hoover! You have indeed chosen wisely. The Hoover Professional Series uprights are excellent carpet cleaners, as well as everything else a good upright should be. I wish you many years of outstanding service with yours! I have the very similar Hoover Guardsman model...

    My Killer

An excellent cleaner, indeed! I also have that Concept One model, which, after 20-plus years of service, continues to do a stellar job of cleaning my carpet (and I do have quite a bit!) Here is my production sample, manufactured in October, 1989.

Looking for info on an upright from Bigelo carpet company

In 1964, Consumer Reports tested two versions of the Bigelow Rugmaster; the model A (straight suction) and model B (power nozzle model.) Of the two, the model B was the only one worth considering, but was still not on par with the full-sized uprights that were tested in that report.

    recent vacuum sightings on TV

On MTV back in 1984 (when they actually played music videos) I saw the video for Barbara Streisand's "Emotion." Toward the beginning of the video, she is pushing a Hoover upright from the late 1920s/early 1930s, either the model 425 or 575.

    I found a $5 Hoover!

Excellent Find! I have the same Hoover cleaner in my collection. That is model U4423, styled in Olympic Blue and Oyster White. For only five dollars, a cleaner of that quality is a steal! Glad it went to a good home! Here is my production sample, made in March 1988.

    recent vacuum sightings on TV

Two other All In The Family/Golden Girls sightings... In the 1976 AITF episode, "Edith's Night Out", Edith is vacuuming her living room with a Hoover Convertible Elite model U4059. And in the 1986 Golden Girls episode, "Blind Ambition", you can see a Hoover Dial-A-Matic 1120 in the background...

    HOOVER CONCEPT ONE BELT SLIPPING

While I do own a Concept One with Power Drive, I have never experienced a problem with the agitator belt slipping over to make contact with the Power Drive belt. What I suggest is to remove the offending belt, make sure there is no hair, thread, fragments of rubber from previous belts, or any...

    Hoover Concept One belt question

I own a Hoover Concept One model U3315-070, a self-propelled model manufactured in October 1989, which I am currently using as a daily driver. Within the last two weeks, I have noticed that, when I finish using the cleaner, the left-hand side (belt-side) of the base feels warm (not so much as to...

Help on the age of a Hoover 425

The Hoover 425 was made from 1931-1933, and was considered the lower-priced alternative to the Deluxe model 750, which was the first Hoover model to have a headlight and a two-speed motor. Judging from the photograph you've provided, your cleaner looks like it would be well worth restoring. I...

Who can name this old Eureka Canister Vacuum???

Years ago, my aunt had a very similar Eureka canister, except hers did not have the tool rack at.the rear, and was finished in a dark blue which I believe Eureka referred to as "Windsor Blue."

Who can name this old Eureka Canister Vacuum???

Is that a Princess? I always thought that design was called the Prince, with the Princess being a little smaller, with the carrying handle built into the top center of the canister housing, rather than up front where the hose connector is, as well as being wider at the front than the rear. But...

Help Comemercial Eureka Upright Dirt Bag

If the bag is in good condition (no excessive fraying, worn spots, etc.) You can carefully hand-wash the bag in warm water and mild detergent (such as Woolite.) Once the bag has been washed, blot up any excess moisture between two large, absorbent towels, then allow the bag to air-dry thoroughly...

    Dating a Decade

Your Decade 80 was made sometime between 1985 and 1987. The model U4407 was a JCPenney exclusive model, sold alongside a Concept One and a Concept Two which were also finished in the same color scheme (shades of Slate Green.)

Help Comemercial Eureka Upright Dirt Bag

tEureka commercial bags and belts To empty the bag, you must slide the large metal clip off the top of the bag, then upend the bag over a newspaper or garbage can to release the dirt. On Eureka commercial upright bags, there is a large pocket sewn into the lower interior of the bag to prevent...

    My hoover concept u3103

Very nice cleaner! That is the self-propelled sister model of the U4203, which lacked the Power Drive and headlight, and whose outer bag is solid Honey Beige. My mother had that model when I was a kid, and it rendered years of excellent service. I currently have another Concept One model, the...

    Hoover Convertible Guardsman

That is one gorgeous Guardsman! I remember Service Merchandise carried that model in the early 1980s. I first saw it when my mother and I went there to purchase a new iron. Fortunately, the vacuum cleaners were right across the aisle, and I became fairly mesmerized looking at it. My mother had...
