    Estate sale finds!

I believe the Eureka's model number is D-360, that model being referred to in advertising as the Eureka Deluxe Automatic (actually the lower priced alternative to the Eureka Supreme Automatic model S-246.)

    Picking Up This Convertible Today

That was indeed a Sears model, one of the first Hoover models Sears carried when they revamped their appliance department as "Brand Central" to include appliance brands other than Kenmore. There were also two other Convertible models and a Concept One model, all finished in a combination of...

    What Model Convertible Is This?

The plastic version of this cleaner was U4129, I believe.

    What Model Convertible Is This?

That is model U4111, one of the last aluminum alloy base Convertibles, made from 1976-1978. The cleaner is finished in denim blue and oyster white, with the original dust bag jacket styled to look like a pair of blue jeans with the Hoover name emblazoned on a brown leather patch, as might appear...

Lets See Those Plastic Base Convertibles!!!

    Here are two of mine! A 1988 model U4423 and a 1980 model U4303.

    Monster Mash Bash III

You're welcome! Glad I could help! And if you need a reference for the color schemes for other Convertible models, there is a wonderful thread titled "And now...the Convertible list" which gives color names and other details about Convertible models from 1957 to about 1980.

    Monster Mash Bash III

The color names for your Convertible Elite are Sea Blue and Oyster White. Congratulations on getting such a fine cleaner! I have a very similar Hoover Convertible, but styled in Mint Green, no headlight, and a houndstooth check outer bag.

Consumer Reports hits a new LOW...(Vacuum Ratings)

Dysonman1 Thank you for clarifying that point. I figured it had to be the Hoover's prices that Consumer Reports had a problem with. The Kirby model G4 suffered similar judgment in the 1995 report, with the remark, "despite its solidity, the Kirby is simply too expensive to be recommended." Oh...

Consumer Reports hits a new LOW...(Vacuum Ratings)

I remember reading in the 1986 report on vacuum cleaners , where there was a small retrospective piece regarding the 1936 report, being that it was Consumer Reports' 50th anniversary, that two Hoover models performed well in the 1936 tests. Does anyone know which two those were, or have a copy...

An old friend from my mother's past (The return of my first Hoover)

That certainly makes us two of a kind! I also have that same Convertible and Legacy model in my collection! I'm so glad to hear of your reunion with a fondly-remembered cleaner from your past. Here is a photo of the production samples I own.

    '80s Green Hoover Convertible

You have indeed found a great vacuum cleaner! I have the ABS plastic base version of that cleaner (Model U4101-001), which my great-grandparents bought in 1978. I use mine as a daily driver, and it is simply amazing how much dirt collects in the bag after only a few weeks. I personally consider...

    Air-Way Memorabilia

To answer the earlier question as to whether the Hamilton Beach designed power nozzle was a modifiedupright design, I would say the answer is yes. I believe it is a modified Hamilton Beach model 470 from the 1960s. I have not seen this model personally, but I do know it was tested by Consumer...

    Vacuum of the day

You're right-it is from the 1950s. 1954, to be exact. That Westinghouse model was a twin-fan model a la Singer, and was also made for Montgomery Ward as Catalog No. 8458A

Hoover vacuum cleaner bag packages, 1985-1990

On Genuine Hoover dust bag packages manufactured between 1985 and 1990, I've noticed that, on the back, there appears to be some sort of diagram in which the cleaner appears in dark blue, while the bag appears in light blue. Any thoughts on what the purpose of that might be? An example appears...

    Guardsman

I would hazard the guess that your cleaner was made during the mid-to-late 1990s. Try checking the serial number on the bottom of the cleaner, as the first four digits will represent the month and year a given production sample was made (as was the case with all Hoovers made from 1987 to 2007.)...

Loved the colour and had to have it.

Your cleaner is model 1140, manufactured from 1968-1971, styled in Marine Blue and Light, Medium and Deep Seal Greige. A very nice find, indeed!

    Model of Convertible?

The Convertible you describe sounds like model U4371, which was styled in Deep Persimmon and Oyster White (Hoover's official color names.) Below is the front of the brochure/spec sheet for that model.
