The color names for your Convertible Elite are Sea Blue and Oyster White. Congratulations on getting such a fine cleaner! I have a very similar Hoover Convertible, but styled in Mint Green, no headlight, and a houndstooth check outer bag.

You're right-it is from the 1950s. 1954, to be exact. That Westinghouse model was a twin-fan model a la Singer, and was also made for Montgomery Ward as Catalog No. 8458A

I would hazard the guess that your cleaner was made during the mid-to-late 1990s. Try checking the serial number on the bottom of the cleaner, as the first four digits will represent the month and year a given production sample was made (as was the case with all Hoovers made from 1987 to 2007.)...

Your cleaner is model 1140, manufactured from 1968-1971, styled in Marine Blue and Light, Medium and Deep Seal Greige. A very nice find, indeed!

The Convertible you describe sounds like model U4371, which was styled in Deep Persimmon and Oyster White (Hoover's official color names.) Below is the front of the brochure/spec sheet for that model.
