    variety for your cleaning

Yep. I have one vacuum in each bedroom, each left out on display, one for the lounge & hall, the showpeice, and the floor-polisher in the kitchen. So it doesn't look like a vacuum cleaner factory in any one place, they all get seen, and used in-turn. It used to be considered good etiquette to...

    KIRBY ULTIMATE G7E

Hi Walter, You said remove it for cleaning, then replace it. If you intend to replace the same cleaned, worn, roller; you can adjust your brushroll height to compensate for bristle wear. Either by turning the screw at each end of the roller (if you have screws), or by rotating the...

    Kirby Avalir fabric Case/Tote/Caddy

Hello everyone, I've seen photos of an improved Case/Tote/Caddy for storing Kirby Avalir tools. In one photo I've seen, these have straps and compartments for the various attachments. I'm hoping to be able to buy the bag separately, but I can't find it listed anywhere. Does anyone know if...

    Johnson Wax Polisher & Beautiflor

Funny you should say that, I was fascinated with ours too! As a boy, I wanted to "play" at polishing with it. And if someone else was using it, I wanted to ride on it. It looked, and sounded, so futuristic.

    Johnson Wax Polisher & Beautiflor

Ah, yes, that's the one! It had two (or maybe three) interchangeable brushes.

    Johnson Wax Polisher & Beautiflor

And we have pokey little houses. No pools. No basements. Garages so small, you can't fit a car in them. It rains all the time. You'll never see a Policeman. Or a phonebox. Three weeks to see a Doctor. No Royal vacuums. No vacuum shops. No floor wax. Shops closed-down. High Streets empty...

    Johnson Wax Polisher & Beautiflor

That looks like a fairly old tin of Polish. Can you still buy that sort today? Or paste waxes? Here in the UK, they've virtually banned all proper floor waxes (except for commercial use) because we can't be trusted not to slip and to end up in Hospital A&E. Ironically, they use Commercial...

    Royal Dirt Devil Hand Vacs.

Store it somewhere warm, but not hot, until you're sure its completely dry - such as an airing cupboard. Suspend it as straight as possible, so that air can get to the centre section. If its nearly dry, attach it to your vacuum and let air run through it. That won't damage your motor.

    Royal Model 2075

Ugly? Nah. It's lovely. I wish we had Royal vacs here in the UK. I know what you mean by "Industrial Looking", but that's their appeal. They have that 'Made for purpose' look. Not that modern encase-it-in-platic, ergonomic, rectangular design. Also on the plus side, like the Kirbys, they're...

    Royal Dirt Devil Hand Vacs.

Do you have another vacuum such as Electrolux or Kirby with an exhaust blowing function? Or a hairdryer? You could rig-up a Heath Robinson affair to blow warm, dry air through the damp hose, instead of sucking moist air past a motor. I wouldn't leave it damp for too long. Water may deteriorate...

Is there a hose for the Royal 882?

Hi Dave, I'd go for the complete M304 Set @ $65. So you're up & running with all the tools you need. Then continue looking for a M305 Set. If you find an M305, just sell the M304. They may even be worth more than you paid by the time you sell them. You'd certain recoup your $65.

    Tradition

Hi Ben, Oh yes, I have quite a few of the Style #1 bags. Three Traditions, each came with packets and packets of unopened Kirby paper bags. Amazing. I guess they either stocked up, or preferred to use the shake-out cloth bag? One Tradition I bought last week for £5, has all mint, unused tools...

    Tradition

Les, Another option would be to fit a reusable Topper to a Hepa bag. That way you'd keep your Tradition's original unmodified Sani-Emptor, Fill-Tube, and Top Bracket. That's what I'm doing with mine. Just undo four screws, Dremel the opening to form an oval shape, and take the Rubber Gasket...

    Kirby Tradition/Heritage/Legend LED Bulb upgrade

Thank-you Madman, of course it must be AC. I was confusing myself, and wondering whether Kirby had taken/generated 12v DC for the bulb. Les, I'll look again for your earlier links. Thanks! I DID search before posting. Found nothing. Sorry if my "lifepost" is tedious to read. Sometimes...

Kirby Heritage II Cable Support Bracket colour?

Thank-you, both. You have to wonder what some of these machines suffered. Cracked aluminium handle too. Dropped down stairs perhaps? This confirms the Maroon/Red Bracket was a replacement.

    Kirby Tradition/Heritage/Legend LED Bulb upgrade

Hi Everyone, I thought I'd share my experience in trying to upgrade my Kirby Tradition, Heritage, and Legend vacuums to use brighter LED Bulbs. The 12v ones I bought from the auto-store don't easily fit. There's a collar of paxolin on the bulb which needs to be trimmed quite a bit. The Kirby...

Kirby Heritage II Cable Support Bracket colour?

Hi Everyone, I'm refurbishing a Kirby Heritage II and the Upper Cable Support Bracket appears to have been replaced. Were these Black, to match the Trim? Or Red, to match the accent highlight reds? I've scoured every online photo I can find, but cannot see the top cable-support bracket in the...

    Hoover Flight Promotion

It was intended to promote the high-end, top-of-the-range, expensive Hoovers only. You needed to spend a minimum amount to qualify for Free-Flights. The vacuum shop I was browsing at that time, said they'd add whatever amount I needed to the listed Retail Price of any model, so I'd qualify for...

    Hepa bags. A gimmick?

Well no-one EVER answers the ruddy questions, do they? They just keep saying "I've got allergies"! DO THEY REDUCE SUCTION? ANYONE EVER COMPARED THE TWO TYPES? NO? THEN WHAT MAKES YOU SO EXPERT? SOLD ON ADVERTISING, METHINKS. YOU CAN SEE SUB-MICRON PARTICLES, POLLEN, AND DUST-MITES BEING...

    Hepa bags. A gimmick?

I've read all your pros & cons, and decided to try to be a little more open-minded regarding the benefits of Hepa bags. I've ordered some cloth-type Hepa bags, and charcoal-infused bags too. Was Kirby's term "Micron Magic" their name for Hepa? Has anyone tested airflow? Paper v Hepa...
