Inexpensive shop-vac type unit using universal/brushed motor

MM300:   I just purchased this Vacmaster 6 gallon 3HP wet/dry shop vac for $61.99 and I am quite pleased with it so far. It is very well designed and has excellent suction and airflow. Even though it is only 3HP it has the same suction and airflow as the ShopVac 4.5HP units. I haven't tried...

    Kirby ultimate carpet cleaner?

Royal Filtration just as good as Kirby... I use the Royal Type B synthetic HEPA bags in my Royal 8300 so I get the same filtration as the Kirby HEPA bags in my Royal. Filtration down to 0.3 microns.   I will have to say that the Royal Type B synthetic filterete HEPA bags are quite...

    Kirby ultimate carpet cleaner?

Mariotron,   Sadly, Royal no longer makes the 8300. Mine was made in 2008 and it retailed for around $750.00 at that time.   I was browsing ebay yesterday and saw a brand new, still In Box, Royal Everlast 8300 exactly like mine and they want $400.00 for it which is probably worth it...

    Kirby ultimate carpet cleaner?

I know of only one other vacuum cleaner that can out clean any Kirby on carpet and that is my 10 amp Royal Everlast 8300. The airflow and agitation is so great that even if the machine is stationary, particles of Oatmeal will bounce around and gravitate toward the floor nozzle from up to 2 feet...

    What is your bag preference?

The amount of time and effort it takes to remove a full cloth HEPA bag, turn it inside out, blow it out, turn it back out side in and reinstall it is just not worth it for me. I replace a bag in one of my 4 Kirby's that use disposable bags about once every 6 months or so, and since I can buy...

    What is your bag preference?

I agree with texaskirbyguy. If you are so cheap that you are going through all the trouble to turn a bag inside out, blow it out with compressed air which is a messy job and then re-install it, you might as well just get yourself a cheap bagless plasticrap  vacuum. Then you only have to empty...

    What is your bag preference?

Rivstg1:   Emptying and reusing HEPA bags is not recommended. When a HEPA bag is full, its pores are mostly clogged as well reducing airflow significantly. So, when you re-install a used HEPA bag you are reducing the performance of your vacuum by quite a bit.

What's a reasonable price for a hoover convertible?

The small Kirby's were all made before 1970. The best of the smaller Kirby's are models 510 through D80 and they were made between 1950 and 1970.   Here is a picture of my Kirby Dual Sanitronic 50 (DS50) made in 1965.

ATTN PERFORMANCE REVIEW GUY: tacony lightweight vid.

As mentioned before, The best belt placement is in the center of the nozzle which allows for excellent edge cleaning on both sides of the nozzle. Kirby, Royal and early Hoovers are good examples of uprights with center belt placement.

How do you clean a kirby?

How to polish your Kirby... Josh1998:   Since all Kirby's are made of Aluminum, what you need is some good Aluminum polish and some elbow grease.   The best aluminum polish is Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish which is sold at WalMart and also on Amazon.com. You should remove the rubber...

I think I’m sticking to bagged

I say DO NOT put a Kirby Bagless conversion kit on your Kirby! You will be sorry! That bagless kit is horrible. It needs to be emptied and the filter cleaned after every 10 minutes of use or the machine loses suction. It is a waste of money.

    Kirby Question

Therefore I don't see how the H2 motor field and armature could be the same as G series field and armature since H2 motor draws 6 amps in high speed mode and all of the G series machines draw 7 amps. Therefore the fields and armatures must be different.

    Kirby Question

Les,   The Heritage II motor is nothing like the motors used in the G series Kirby's. From G3 to Avalir the motors are all the same and quite different than the one used in the Classic series.

Door to Door sales and their relevance in 2018 and beyond...

No one will buy an expensive Kirby system from a retail store especially when placed next to cheap plastivacs.   The Kirby System needs to be fully demonstrated in the home so that prospective buyers can see what it is capable of and therefore justify the expense.

    Curious comparison??

@vacuumdevil:   I have the right to state my opinion here on Vacuumland just like you or anyone else does!

Kirby Avalir 2 Questions - Am I doing it right?

@vacuumwars,   Blackheart is correct. The best way to clean hard floors with a Kirby is to use the Hard Floor attachment in Canister Mode.   When cleaning carpet in Upright Mode and with a new filter bag installed you need to first raise the floor nozzle all the way up to position #7...

    Curious comparison??

I agree with Tolivac!   I don't know what Vacuumdevil has been smoking because he definitely does not know how to measure cleaning ability of a vacuum cleaner. If he knew how to properly test for carpet dirt removal and deep cleaning ability, he would see that Direct Air cleaners work much...

Do My Airflow Measurements on the Kirby Avalir 2 Make Sense.

Kirby Water Lift... The cleaning power of all Kirby's is based on Airflow and Agitation, not water lift. It is normal for Kirby's to have around 40" of water lift. You do not need much water lift when you have high Airflow and good agitation. This is the same for the Royal Metal Upright as...

Working water lift vacuum test gauge explained.

@vacuumdevil... Your video is misleading.   You said that the Kirby is not very powerful. If that is true, how do you explain the fact that the Kirby G series machines are among the best Deep cleaning carpet cleaning systems there are?   The secret is Agitation and Airflow - NOT...

    I bought an Avalir 2 :)

@moderneezer:   ALL Kirby's have always been made in either Cleveland Ohio or Andrews Texas USA including the current Avalir models.   The Kirby is definitely better made than any Miele! All Kirby's are made mostly of High Grade Aircraft Aluminum whereas all Miele's are made of plastic...
