Jeff thanks for that info and doing the digging !!! I'll look into it and show to my ex Kirby and vac technician friend who is amazingly resourceful from 40years in the field for this! I will report back too. I'm a Royal fan for sure....this one is extra special so I want it working properly.

Bucket list item added to collection

@electroluxmodel1. Surprisingly, I forgot to take before pics@!#/%!!!! Jeff the adjust-to-rite does push in & pops back out easily. In'm sure its not the carpet as my other Royals react nicely there too. The fan blades loo unblemished but the rubber seal is rather flat... Barely a ridge when...

Bucket list item added to collection

Finally got it! Galaxie Prestige 990( a Royal 888 with different name). I had looked at it at a thrift store, waited till today when it was half off ( chancing it , no doubt, it could have been bought by someone else in the one day interim). It’s very quiet surprisingly . I serviced it (...

    Grabbed a Hoover

The collector in me overruled sensibility and previous allegiances with other vac brands. I saw Hoover celebrity ( round tank ?), celebrity and this blue model. The canister Celibrity was super condition but I’m not a fan. No one else wanted it either it seemed ( last day of sale is 50% offf)...

Why is it bad to let a Kirby sit ?

to the OP no, you were told wrong, nothing wrong with letting a Kirby sit unused...for a while. I have many and I rotate using them...so each one might sit 5 months before using it sinc e I use a different one every 2-3 weeks. I disconnect the belt from every one of them until I want to use...

    Rainbow Air purifier mode.

I'm partly a rainbow guy as I have 2 now & have had one since 1999. I never saw dirty water ...at all really, when using it on low speed "cleaning" the air. I hear some say it works so well there...but, did you fellas have noticeable dust etc in the water when using it as a air cleaner?

Vacmadman Is there ant chance you'd be willing to help me a bit with my airway since you've got experience with them? I just noticed we live 45 miles from each other. I can not get the air ditrction diverted to work. We can take this off board through email Kelton

    I did the Oreck challenge

I see lots of carpet fiber there ( along with hair), so THAT indicates more on a aggressive bristles/brushroll more often than not.

Damage from using it as a blower

kirby519 the answer would be a big NO for rug renovator use. I have the renovators for all my Kirbys.....have identified no damage and I've taken a few apart and would have seen it .

Damage from using it as a blower

superocd I dont understand your statement about using it as a blower and it being unsanitary.... I've used 2 of my kirby's in blower mode several times. Nothing is injested into the kirby whatsoever. with the nozzle air cover on the front...and the hose hooked up to the exhaust of the...

Damage from using it as a blower

more photo damage This is an interesting case....seeing how much damage was done. I have personally used a Sentria model with the new Hand Butler for polishing some past Kirbys....but, I sold it w/o inspecting it afterwards to compare to this one. It didn't make any noise or smells to let me...
