    Apex

This might not be much help but... I know the original belt was made of felt, so go to a craft store try and find some felt that you can cut to size. Anyways, what a cute vacuum! I have been interested in buying one of those, but they are becoming harder to come by on eBay.

    Old Style Kenmore Brushroll Needed

I need a new brushroll for my 1930s Kenmore Deluxe. One side of the brushroll is completely fine and untouched, with the original bearing. The other side has had the bearing replaced with one that is too big, thus cracking the wooden housing. Now, when I spin the axle one way, the other side...

    Forgotten Bissells

Recently I saw one of those at a local thrift store. I didn't buy it because my Grandma has a strict no more vacuums rule

    Kenmore De Luxe Score!

Yesterday, I walked into the Henry Company vacuum store with the intent of buying a Hoover Junior 115. As soon as I walked through the door , I saw a vacuum which I didn't recognize right off the top of my head but when I looked at the original bag, it read Kenmore De Luxe. I talked with a man...

    Royal 501 brushroll issues

Today I was using my Royal 501 hand vac when all of a sudden I started to hear squeaking and something rattling around. At first I thought it was the motor but it turns out it was the brushroll. I oiled the bearing that was causing the trouble, but it is still incredibly unbalanced and still...

Sturtevant Vacuum Cleaners From Owen Perkins collection

Those are some interesting vacuums. I have never heard of or seen one of those bulky Sturtevant canisters before and I think we can all see why they quickly became obsolete. I have seen that straight suction Sturtevant upright in another thread somewhere on Vacuumland.

    $25,000 Hoover

Are you guys sure that's an empty box? Even if it isn't empty, no one, absolutely no one, would ever pay that much for a vacuum. $25,000 would buy you a car, not a vacuum!

What's your opinion on customizing old vac's?

I hate it when diy/vac-repair people put things like sleds on Electrolux model XXXs. I don't always mind it when people paint them though, as long as color choice is good.

Hoover 61, makes buzzing noise $70

My Hoover model 28 does that too. It could be the commutator, which sometimes becomes rough and needs a polish.

Hoover Convertible Motor Shaft End Play

Update A little while after posting this, I decided to try again with the belt. This time I put it on correctly. Upon turning it on, I was greeted with the nice Hoover Convertible sound and I ended up using the vacuum for 10 minutes without issue.

Hoover Convertible Motor Shaft End Play

I was going to clean some carpet with my Hoover Convertible model 706 for the first time in a while, and when I put the belt on, I believe I put it on backwards, and when I turned the vacuum on, the motor was running very slow and the brushroll was also going very slow. After I took the base...

How can I replace a Kirby Omega On/Off Switch?

Thanks for the help! I'm glad that there is an easier way to take the wires out than I had thought. I will go and get a switch from the Henry Co tomorrow. Since I am a friend of the owner of the store, he will likely let me take a switch from one of the Kirbys in the window. Many of the Kirbys...

How can I replace a Kirby Omega On/Off Switch?

I was trying to put my Kirby Omega back together yesterday after a good cleaning and when I tried to screw the power switch in, the tab that holds it on broke. I noticed that there was no way to disconnect the wires because the switch is riveted together. I came up with the idea to use wire...

    A Premier 37

I was scrolling through eBay one day and found a Premier model 37. This vacuum isn't in the best shape and will need things like a new cord, a good cleaning and polishing, a belt, etc. I was wondering if this vacuum is worth the price or worth buying at all...
