    Kirby models 516-561 question

Kirby Part # A1181 Commutator Brush Cap 505 - 518 $4.32 in Kirby parts manual This is why I never read anything by Les, that and the fact that if he could spell or even construct a sentence it would help.

What vacuum does this attachment belong to ?

the WW2 scrap drives Funny, I don't remember the government having scrap drives for Bakelite, because the whole top assembly was Bakelite along with the upholstery tool. I'm sure that all that Bakelite would have helped win the war.

    Kirby 2C Armature Problem

The Sanitation System, 1C and 2C have an entirely different motor then the later models. The 3C started a different motor that they carried thru the 500 series. If he had a 3C you could swap in a motor from a later series like a 505 - 519. Does anyone ever read any of the service manuals ???????

    Kirby 2C Armature Problem

Kirby discontinued the Sanitation System, 1C and 2C about 1960. The ONLY way to get an Armature or Field is to have it rewound, and Kirby states that in the earlier service manuals. 3C is compatible with the 500 series as per the service manual but not sure what year they discontinued those.

    Newly acquired Hoover 541

I would say it was made in 1923. The early 541 was a 6/6 bristle, later on they went to a 5/7 configuration. The cord is a replacement but it looks good on the vacuum. Be sure to add a couple of drops of oil every so often, use 3-IN-ONE Motor Oil. The brushroll should have ball bearings in it...
