What should i pay for a model 28?

I wouldn't pay more than $25 or so, personally. There are still LOTS of 28s out there to be found.

Hoover Constellation Motor: Help! (Paging John Long)

The Hoover Service manual on Ephemera gives detailed instructions on how to service a Constellation motor. :-) If you take all of the screws in the fan housing out and remove the carbon brushes, the armature will come out with the fans attached. You can then hold the armature in your hand...

    Convertible Height Control Help Please

It's not supposed to control anything by just moving it. When you move it to "high", push downward on the handle (cleaner standing upright with the handle in the upright position) and the rear wheel axle will get hooked onto that hook you see in the first photo. This keeps the rear wheels...

    Still probllems with Hoover bags

Hi Rob, Sorry to hear that you're having this problem. I would recommend doing this: I've said this in other threads; there's a great way to "bojack" better filtration into these older machines... I took a HEPA typy Y bag, and carefully tore the cardboard collar off. Then I took a type...

    Worth it ???

Not without a powerhead it's not.

The Designing of the Hoover Convertible...

The "exhaust muffler" was very short-lived. All it was, was a piece of foam glued into the full tube. Some early 65 full tubes you can see the glue residue. I don't recall offhand why it was discontinued. Perhaps John Long or someone could ask Tom Anderson for a definitive answer.

It was worth that price for those Filtex tools alone!

appx Age of a vintage Beam Central Vac

The power unit itself isn't shown in the 1961 Brochure that is for sale on Automatic Ephemera, but the company logo is the same. I would guess that machine is from the late 60s or early 70s. I'm not entirely sure when they changed their logo, so it could even be from the late 70s or early...

    Hoover (Norca??) Model 80

That would have been a Norca, it would have been the sister to the hoover 305 I believe. Does this cleaner still have its brushroll? The thing with Norcas - they had a 4 brush brushroll and no beater bars. I'd say if it's missing the bag, hand, and hood the machine would probably be...

Which Hoover would you have picked?

Haha!  Oh, the vacuum thing was around long before 5th grade.  We already had a Dimension 1000 at home by then.  :-)

Which Hoover would you have picked?

Ooh, those blue Dimension 1000s are pretty machines.  Nice find!  I would love to find one some day.    When I was in 5th grade, we had some sort of class project that everyone worked on.. made a mess in the classroom, of course.  My teacher brought his in, and I was put in charge of...

Which Hoover would you have picked?

Geez, I don't know which I would have purchased.. quite possibly all of them! I hope you didn't order that particular bag - that particular bag in the picture is for a Conquest, and won't attach to either of those Convertibles. Unless there was also a Conquest not pictured. :-)

    Hoover Convertible Thrift Find

I've had that happen to me sometimes with carbon brushes.. I know the noise you mean.  You can try replacing the carbon brushes, taking them out and turning them around, or letting it run for a while with the belt disconnected.   I love the model 36, that color is such a nice shade of...

    A Happy Hoover Christmas!

This is a tough one... I would say its a model 67 if I had to choose between the two. The "Hoover" on the bag seems to be reflective, which it would have been on the model 67, not the 65. That ink used on the 67's bag was silver. What throws me though is the tie that the gentleman in the...

    Hoover Decade 80 Hot Belt

What kind of carpet do you have, and which carpet-height setting are you running the machine on?

    Hoover Decade 80 Hot Belt

I also disagree that the CWP brushrolls are crap. I think they work very well on particular machines; in the end, it's certainly nice to see something modern available for a machine that hasn't been in domestic production in nearly 23 years.   I would not use a CWP brushroll in ANY...
