I"M STARTING A VACUUM REPAIR SHOP!!!!

TV shop I used to hit the two tv repair shops by my house and get all the rejects customers didn't want to repair. I could actually get most of them going and the worst ones sold for 50 bucks each. My parents and later my garage and even a rented storage room was full for a while. The ones I...

Article: Trade-in vacuums repaired for those in need

When we didn't have much money garage sales and thrift stores were where we got expensive things we needed. I always hit garage sales anyway because I'm cheap and can find good stuff for a low price. Bought a old Kenmore square cannister vac for 5 bucks that worked but was pretty beat up. Kept...

    Quick pick-up go to vacuum.....

We use a Rowenta 18 volt stick vac that has 2 speeds, a powered brush, and runs about half an hour. Nice for cleaning up after my Parrot and his favorite spots. We also have a Orec xl we were given when he really gets messy but we don't want to break out the Royal 4650.

Today , I was gifted the newest Hoover ...

Removable battery and a reasonable run time are great points in it's favor. My Rowenta would be a lot easier to deal with if I could swap out batteries easily. Will have to watch for it around here and hope it goes on a good sale. The Rowenta even makes a 24 volt version that is supposed to run...

Today , I was gifted the newest Hoover ...

Bought a Rowenta Delta Force I picked up the above mentioned 18 volt stick vac last year from Woot cheap and we've been very happy with it so far. Has high and low speeds and a brushroll and usually runs at least half an hour before it dies. Great for quick cleaning between major vacuuming...

Kirby door to door visit here

Well at least his machine was nicer and worked well but might as well buy a slightly used one and let someone else take the beating on a new one. I have at least 5 vacuums here and that guy was driving a van and had at least one guy with him. He said they drove all over the western states...

Kirby door to door visit here

Well accidentally let a Kirby salesman in last week after he promised to be quick. He was a BIG polite guy who told us to go ahead and eat the dinner we were just getting to when he knocked. I ate and watched him pull out and setup a probably brand new Avilar machine. He broke out the main...

    Stark's Vacuum - The Museum

They are local and the 4650 Starks/Royal was of course from them originally that I bought a few years ago for 25 bucks. They used to redo the hose for us on the Royal 413 we have too but they can no longer get the hoses and parts. I've never been to any of the stores but sister used to go to...

    Compact

Looks similar to many other good canister designs. I have a couple of newer Royals I really like with good power heads and they too are very powerful, simple, and easy to repair as long as you can find the parts. In fact I vaguely remember actually having a similar Electrolux we replaced a...

something missing from modern vacs - ability to use as a blower

Pretty sure my Royal 4650 has a setting that says blower but all it does is disable the variable speed switch on the handle. Well I just looked and I guess you can put the hose on the exhaust port and actually use it as a blower. I've never even looked before or ever used that function as I've...

    Royal 4650 wand repair

Yeah it has a lot of extra connections with the motor speed and off on stuff on the pistol grip. I have downloaded the parts list and schematics but seems most of the parts are no longer made like original hoses and things. I have a 413 too we bought when it was practically new and over the...

    Royal 4650 wand repair

Was using our Stark/Royal 4650 today and noticed the pistol grip where the hose pigtail plugs in was getting hot and smelling a bit toasty. When I got it for 25 bucks the hose power connection was bad somewhere by the tank and it would drop the power head unless I set it to blower mode. Found a...

What happens to carpets that have only been cleaned with a stick vac...

love my Royal cannisters I have a old Royal 413 and a newer Stark/Royal 4650 and I love what they do for the carpet and that I can get under and around most everything. Been wondering and considering a Royal upright if a good enough deal shows up and after seeing those photos maybe one would be...

    New copycat Dyson cordless

Bought a cheap upright cordless here Woot.com had a deal on a Rowenta Delta Force 18 volt upright just after Xmas here in the States. It claims up to 40 minute run time on normal slow speed and 30 on turbo fast/carpet mode. It only does floors, has a power brush in the head, removable small...

    Exceptional Stark branded Royal find

Stark cannister Bought a Stark/Royal 4650 off Craigslist last summer for 25 bucks. Had a open wire in the hose so the handle controls didn't work but worked fine on the override/blower mode. Got a 4600 hose on eBay and that fixed it. I also got a bunch of Royal bags with it too. Replaced my...

Are old vacuums really that dirty?

I use a older but not antique Starks/Royal 4650 and it is supposed to be one of the first HEPA filter types out. I don't notice any dust escaping and it cleans really well with a excellent power head. My earlier 413 power tank was the same as long as the hose wasn't shot and full of holes. We...

    weird Electrolux vacuum :)

Had a rebadged one years ago and remember it being a excellent little machine with a great power head. I think mom upgraded to a Kirby and finally gave it away to a family friend. Wish I still had it now and wouldn't mind seeing how it stacks up to the Royal 4650 I have now. If nothing else it...

    Vacuum Miss Matches

Well we do that with our old cars all the time. Leave the body mostly the way it came but anything under the hood or the running gear is fair game. My Dart has a 83/4 rear out of a slightly newer 71 Dart, the electronic ignition is out of a 75 Cordoba I think. The distributer is a combo of a old...
