Notice the distinct lack of Royals? :)

    woah sparks!

I'm more than willing to bet that's static. 120v doesn't like to jump very far, and it would have no reason to jump between that plastic and the metal. Beacuse the dirt travels through that tube, (depending on what you're picking up) static electricity can build up and jump like that.

    ?? F/Q Model 700 grinding noise...

Actually, I've had great luck replacing the bearings. You just have to make sure to use high quality bearings made for the speed, and to put everything back together in the right order. I never reuse brushes and I wouldn't advise doing so unless they are made from unobtainium.

    Rainbow D4 -SE Motor

ROFLOL! Very good. You can see then why that D2 left a bad taste in my mouth!

    Rainbow D4 -SE Motor

Wow I'm stupid. I was totally thinking of the D2s. No, the D4s are much easier to work on and they seem less prone to failure. We certainly don't see a lot of them. We only charge $59.95 (plus parts) as a flat rate with no hourly rate. So on that damn rusty D2 motor, we did loose money. Plus...

    Rainbow D4 -SE Motor

Keep in mind that the people who usually bring those things in don't take care of them. The motors and screws are usually so corroded it almost isn't worth it to work on them. We actually lose money in labor if we get into a dirty motor, so unfortunately if the motor doesn't look great, we will...

    A Great Find!

Crap! How come I never find anything like that! J/K That looks very nice. What a steal. Enjoy. I know you'll take good care of it.

    Air Way question.

You might get away with new bearings and brushes, but I'd just go with a new motor. Nice find BTW.

    Picked up an Amway Cleartrak

Yeah, I pulled the motor last night to clean and rebuild it because it was super dusty. That was a pain, but I'd rather get to the motor in an Amway than a Dyson. There are only screws, not flexible plastic and those stupid plastic retaining rings. The thing is so much more solid and durable...

    Picked up an Amway Cleartrak

Well, I had never seen one of these before, so I picked it up. Apparantly, it is a Dyson copy, but I daresay it is built much better and is much easier to work on. Apart from having about a pound of hair (uck) clogging every possible area, it seems to work well. Again, I think this thing turned...

    Royal Metal Uprights

They are still pretty good quality. As others have mentioned, power has been upped. We sell a lot of them. They also have good warranties. They have drop-in motors unlike the early ones, and while they last quite a long time (decades if you maintain them) they have a slightly higher tendency for...

    WINDTUNNEL T-SERIES RECALL!

Yup, TTI shipped us 20 or so replacement cord reels for the Hoovers and the Dirt Devils. We have to put a whole new one in whenever we see one. Ugh!

Gas Pump or pistol grip hose ?

Same here. I like the pistol grips.

Which vacuum do you prefer Electrolux or Filter Queen

Luxes are by far the easiest vacuums to use from hose couplings to changing bags (I'm talking about the old metal luxes). They have decent suction and are pretty quiet. However, Filter Queens are great as well. They are built very sturdily, have lots of suction and filtration, and their motors...

    Royal Power Cast on Ebayy!

Yes, they are heavy, and they can be a major PIA to repair. However, they seem to clean well when they're working. I believe they also have a 7 year warranty which is unbelieveable. (I'm a Royal fan BTW but these aren't as solid as their classic uprights)

Lookie what was at the Goodwill for 5.00!!!!

More importantly, who the **** prices something like that? Geeez.

    Hoover Power Drive

They aren't available from the factory anymore beacuse they don't want to breathe any more life into their older quality vacuums. All TTI wants you to do is buy their new plastic crap. It really makes me upset as they have been discontinuing other vital parts as well. I'm really hoping an...

Hoover vs Hoover - You Help Decide

The Hoover Guardsman and Conquest are the last Hoovers that are built with quality. I'm not saying their lower-end vacuums don't clean well, beacuse they do, but they just aren't built very well like they used to be. I work at a vacuum shop, and we see their plastic stuff all the time. We...

    Kirby Omega Handle Needed!

Okay, I've been really busy and I had to set up my new computer, so I'm sorry for this rediculous delay. Anyway, the owner said you could have the handle for $7. I don't know how much shipping would be, but the handle can be broken down and it is not that heavy. I took a picture of it, but due...
