telescoping wands I personally do not like them. I get several Kenmore, Eurekaluxes, and Panasonic's in my shop with bad telescoping wands and they are quite a bit more costly to replace.

Sounds like the cordwinder needs to be replaced to me as well.

The Platinum will have a 28 ft cord and two hepa filters(one behind the bag and one behind the motor.

The silver portion is indeed metal (brushed aluminum). Hopefully it will be available in October. There are several test units out now.

Actually you can still get generic bags for this one. Aerus no longer makes them but I just checked and they are available at ESSCO.

If you look inside the bag chamber you will notice ridges which prevent the bag from touching the sides of the chamber. This allows the air to spin around the bag thus forming a cyclone action inside the bag. As for how long they have been like that, it has been over 30 some years.

Aerus makes a "muffler" that sits inside the blower under the Afterfilter or Hepa filter that does cut down on the noise some. The older machines did not have it but the new ones do. The part number is 49293.
