Big Lots carries the Hoover Platinum (factory reconditioned, with warranty) without the canister for $99.  I have thought about picking one up, but keep talking myself out of it when I'm in the store.

I agree First thing to check is the carbon brushes.  You'd be surprised what a new set, properly seated, will do.  Probably wouldn't hurt to clean the commutator on the armature as well.

Shipping charges for Tradition Hi John, I checked UPS, and it should cost less than $100 to ship, depending on weight. I'd be fine with that. Have you figured out how much you want for it?

I don't think Postage would be that bad.  I just bought a Kirby DS 80 , a Compact C2,  and an Electrolux Silverado, and postage was less than $30 each via UPS.  I'll check and see what it would cost and get back to you.

I think Ben is right By the looks of the front of this Royal, it has a belt lifter and a removable nozzle like a Kirby.  I believe this was the only model Royal made with that feature, however Electro Hygiene also made one in red.   Joe
