    Nozzle CFM Tests

Interesting results I'm not surprised to see the Sentria aced this test, it is a very powerful machine. The rainbow was a bit of a surprise though. I have a Rainbow D3C...it feels like it has more power than that (of course totally subjective) Even if that is really all the air it moves I...

Need a small part for my Riccar 8750

The bag door button my 8750 has broken. Is it possible to get a replacement button? Thanks Cameron

Going to have to declare a loss.

I've picked up and fixed a lot of vacuums, but not very many of them have been unfixable. I think this poor machine is going to be one of them though. I was very exciting originally to find this nice and rather TOL Sharp Twin Energy machine as it was fully featured and seemed to be in good...

    Rug Plate Pressure Tests

Interesting results... I'm also surprised that the Riccar didn't do better in this test. My 8750 is quite a beast...I don't have any objective data but I'm sure it can keep pace with a Kirby even if it won't pull the carpet off the floor. Have you tested the watertight and airflow of the...

    Hoover Windtunnel Self-Propelled.

I'm working on a Self-Propelled Windtunnel at the moment and I seem to be having troubles with the belts, or perhaps the belt tensioner. The brush roll is totally stopped with the handle in the upright position. lowering engages the brush roll, but as soon as it contacts the carpet it stops...

    National MC-622 Jet-Flo

I have the same machine as a Panasonic as well. They are excellent machines for sure. I was lucky enough to find mine with a Sack-O-Tools. If you want to have better filtration a Riccar/Simplicity type a synthetic cloth HEPA bag will fit it almost perfectly.

    Found another usual Gem

Found this Dirt Devil Platinum Force the other day at the good will shop. I have to say I think this is the cleanest bagless vacuum I've ever gotten...usually you have to take the cyclones and bin apart and scrub and there are all sorts of nasties. However the bin was empty and the big central...

    Looking at Tri-Star Replacement

All of those issues could easily be repaired on your current Tri-Star, they are durable machines and the main components will last for a long time. That being said you might look at a Miracle Mate vacuum. It is basically a Tri-Star copy, except that is has a retractable cord. I bought mine on...

    Found another unusual beast

It has an interesting brush pattern. There are 4 sections that are almost straight, they don't wrap around the brush. It seems to create a beating effect as they come around and whack the carpet. I love how my Riccar will vibrate the carpet so that soil in the carpet several inches out will...

    Found another unusual beast

The bags, I have it fitted with a paper bag, and there is the cloth shake out bag as well. You can see the massive suction motor lurking at the bottom too.

    Found another unusual beast

Up her skirt... The brush roll motor alone is bigger than the main motor on most machines.

    Found another unusual beast

The brush roll bearings... The picture doesn't do justice to how beefy those are.

    Found another unusual beast

I came across another usual (and rather massive) beast this time. This is an Advance CarpetTwin 16. This as the name implies has a 16" sweep and was mostly intended to be a hallway vac or for use in wide areas. I have to say this is probably the heaviest duty vacuum I've ever seen...this has...

    Old Kenmore Tank

Someone in the area is selling this old Kenmore tank, not quite my cup of tea but too old to let pass up. If anybody is interesting I will get it and pass it along for the cost of doing so. Message for details if you are interested.

    Big Power Vacuum

Order of assembly is big bucket, inner sleeve with grate on the bottom, top collar and then the deflector.

    Big Power Vacuum

Update Well I got the machine working and have had a chance to use it a few times. Performance seems to be adequate, the water was about as dirty if I had used my Rainbow, however the power nozzle could stand to be a little more aggressive. The swivel neck is handy though. The bucket system...

    Big Power Vacuum

The power nozzle is made by Technica. It has an auto shut off when the wand is locked into the upright position as well as a shut off switch in the handle of the hose.

    Big Power Vacuum

The back side of the unit has the speed control. 1 and 2 is suppose to be for the air purification mode, 3 and 4 is for vacuuming, 5 and 6 is for shampooing.

    Big Power Vacuum

Here is the underside of the power unit with the 2 filters in place. There is another place that screws in over this. Unfortuatnly, it seems that the last owner committed the water vacuum sin of leaving the unit together wet...these filters smell like a wet basement.

    Big Power Vacuum

Here is the water bucket assembly, there are pieces that go inside. It is designed to use 3 quarts of water.
