    An Excellent Thrift Shop Find!

I think it is a very interesting looking vacuum. Nice job on the cleaning. How loud is that huge motor? :)

    My new goodwill vacuum find!

Looks like a nice score! I'm sure you will have fun restoring it :)

    Aerus/Electrolux uprights

The Aerus/Electrolux uprights are very good in my opinion (for carpet cleaning primarily). I found an older Epic model a year or so ago at a thrift store for $10, that was about as dirty as I'd seen any vacuum. Whoever used it never bothered to check the bag and continued to vacuum, overfilling...

    The Lux Legacy

Keith, that's good to know about the PN4, 5, and 6 cleaning better. I may get a revised hose/powermate for my Epic and see how that works.

New Vacuum needed for Elderly Relative

I think the OP has his mind set on an upright. No disrespect at all to him, but for a 90-year old homeowner and/or housekeeper, I would stick with the lightest option, maybe even a basic upright with attachments from a big box store like someone mentioned. I can't see his great-grandfather...

New Vacuum needed for Elderly Relative

He said it was $475. "I love the Alize canister. Another relative owns one to complement her Sanitaire S677 upright and I have found to to be a fabulous machine. However, my grandfather is 90 years old. He's still in good health, but bending to mess with a canister really isn't practical and...

New Vacuum needed for Elderly Relative

The Aerus classic would be a good choice, but I am sure it would be above the price threshold.

    The Lux Legacy

To those that have used the older Power nozzles on the Silverado era Electrolux machines, as well as the newer versions on the Epic and Legacy models, do you feel the newer nozzles clean as well as the older versions? I know the topic about the weight decrease of the nozzles causing them not to...

    The Lux Legacy

I use the Perfect brand cloth bags in mine and they seem to filter well. I was tempted to buy the Guardian Platinum last weekend after I tested it out, but I wish Aerus had stuck with the C style bags that they have been using for decades instead of creating a machine that takes a special bag.

    The Lux Legacy

The Lux Legacy is just the rebadged Epic series from the late 90s. Did they make any improvements to these machines? I have the Epic 6500 SR and its a nice vacuum, however, I've never likes those chunky plastic wands. The metal wands on the classic were much better in my opinion.

    New Oreck Cordless

Interesting that it seems to only be advertised at "theoreckstore.net" but not at oreck.com.

    New Oreck Cordless

It is rather expensive, but I think that POD concept is really interesting, but are they disposable? I'm guessing so. The "expandable" feature is neat! I'd like to know more about this and would be interested in seeing how it performs. A 40 minute run time is not too bad! I wish they could cut...

Nice looking Oreck canister there! Thanks for posting!

    My Newest Shark!

Well, I do like the cool vintage doorbell in your 1st picture. Those with the long tubular bells sure are neat! :)

What do you think about Oreck Vacuums?

HonestJoe68 Thank for posting pics of the Oreck Edge. Looks really cool! What's the build quality like on the hose? I've always liked the simple design of the Oreck machines.

What's an affordable vacuum with swivel steering?

Fair enough, but you should definitely visit a vacuum store and see if they have any swivel type models.

What do you think about Oreck Vacuums?

@thegen5gal - "You will receive the same benefit if you buy the $50 Bissell at Walmart." Hmm, that's not true. The only $50 bagged Bissell available on Walmart's website is the Powerforce bag 1739, which is a sad vacuum indeed. I've seen this vacuum in person. The materials are very cheaply...

What's an affordable vacuum with swivel steering?

Is the choice to go bagless yours or hers? Not all vacuum bags are expensive, especially if you buy them online. For a small carpeted apartment, perhaps the cheap vacuums will suffice. If it were my mom, I'd go to a vacuum store and see what used models they have and you can try them out...

    New vacuum needed

Well, hopefully he got what he wanted. It's a shame he didn't try to fix the switch/cord himself on the Magnesium; probably was an easy fix. Also a shame it didn't go to a thrift store for someone else to buy. By the way, how much are those Sebo Felix vacuums typically? I see varying prices...

I need help choosing a new vacuum

@compddd - If I were you, I would check out the offerings at a vacuum repair facility. Most have previously used units for sale I'm sure they would be glad to let you try out. Don't bother with a bagless machine. They typically don't last very long and can be a pain to clean out on a regular...
