    Dyson cinetic big ball

I remember reading years ago, that the Dyson Digital Motor was supposedly able to operate with no exhaust filter, 'cos there were no carbon dust emissions. That is believable, because it is a brushless motor. If the Cinetic cyclone technology is so good that a pre-motor filter is not required...

    Dyson cinetic big ball

"the only upright with no bag or filters" Er, no, what it actually says is "The only vacuum with no filters to wash or replace...". What this really means is that filters will still be present, but that they will take much, much longer to become clogged with household dust (ash, plaster and...

    Dyson carpet washing

Wet and Dry Motor The Dyson uses the suction air to cool the motor, hence any moisture in the airflow will short circuit motor making it electrically unsafe. A wet and dry machine has a special bypass motor. The suction air does not pass through the electrics, it is deflected through the...

    Dyson DC54 Cinetic - Level 3 Separation?

I was aimlessly looking at the Dyson website and spied something in the cutaway illustration / model of the DC54 Cinetic cylinder cleaner. The cutaway seems to show two different types of small cyclones, both types depositing into separate receptacles. The first type of small cyclones seem to...

    Dyson customer service

Dyson DC04 spares obsolete!!! Last week I got an Email from Dyson, stating that from December 2014, and January 2015, spare parts and booking service call-outs would cease for the DC04 models! The general statement was that it was to improve the technological development of newer, more...

Bosch Injunction Against Dyson & Energy Labels

Vintagerepairer I agree, there is enough moisture in British homes without Dyson introducing even more. I don't know who sanctioned that idea. People dry their laundry over radiators, have steaming showers, cook in open-plan areas and so on. Now Dyson will have to introduce a dehumidifier to...

    Dyson DC 41 MK11

Carbon fibre brush strips I've been wondering just how resilient these are in normal use, on floor coverings, carpets, etc. Do they wear down quite quickly?

Why clutched Dysons are bad for deep pile carpet

Having used several Dysons, and various other bagged and bagless machines, I came to the conclusion that Dyson machines are not all they're purported to be. I found them irritatingly awkward in use and rather stingy with the suction power (early DC07 excepted). And they certainly weren't...

    Sebo X4

Sebo X4 exhaust filter I am very surprised that it is yellow sponge foam. I'm afraid that at the very least, I was expecting an electrostatic type of fleece: of the type fitted to Dyson DC01, Panasonic MC-E43, Electrolux Airstream and Hoover Turbopower 2 & 3 Altogether, very strange.

    My DC41 MK2. I must be mad!

Dyson's adjustable slider I am surprised, to say the least. Years ago, James Dyson made a big thing of the lack of fiddly dials and sliders on his uprights. Now we have fiddly sliders. My, how times change! Clearly, one size doesn't fit all.

When Did Vax Hop Into Bed With Electrolux/AEG?

I noticed the similarities too, recently. The machines do have more than a passing similarity. They probably came out of the same Chinese factory.

    SEBO "Lower Motor" models 2014

"Sebo_fan" Look at the top-most edge of that photo. Just visible, pinned to the wall above the white X4 upright, is what appears to be the back end of a cylinder machine. I think I can identify the slot for parking the carpet / floor head.

My new eco Henry HVR 200-A2

I have to say that I am impressed by the clear, concise, colour instruction manual. Well done, Numatic.

Miele SF-HA50 (HEPA filter, new style) appears to have torn?

I had this happen to the HEPA filters of the Dyson DC01 De Stijl.

So why have Dyson re-introduced the DC33?

Probably overstock. Anyway, Dyson have goofed in the description. It mentions a "motorised brushbar", with the switch "above the clear bin". Complete hooey. The pictures of the machine show a mechanical clutch, of the type fitted to the DC04, DC07.

    Dyson DC41 Mk2

Looking at the online Argos Hoover Vortex... ...with the zoomed in pictures, reveals... pleated filters?! Ha! They can keep it!

    Dyson DC41 Mk2

Not at all... ... just like everything else in life, nothing is ever simple. Everything seems to be either a maze or a minefield. :-)

    Dyson DC41 Mk2

Beater bar... ...refers to the raised metal or plastic bars most commonly seen on the Hoover upright cleaners, made from 1926 onwards. These beater bars worked in tandem with the brush strips - "it beats, as it sweeps, as it cleans". "Agitator": originally a Hoover term, commonly refers to a...

New 2014 Vax Air total home - I am speechless

Samsung soleplate In photo #6, the Samsung's soleplate certainly wouldn't allow brushed edge cleaning in the style of the U1104 Hoover Junior. Not even on one side, presuming the other side accounts for the drive belt. Manufacturers these days, have some bloody peculiar ideas about "progress"...

    Dyson Zorb opinions

I tried the Dyson Zorb powder years ago. It never really cleaned the carpet as such, and took ages to hoover the stuff back out of the carpet. It smelt of wet sawdust. Have you tried Vanish Power Powder? It is supposed to clean carpets. I quite liked "Sapur", back in the Eighties - it was...
