    Will Full-Size Straight-Suction Uprights Make a Comeback?

Does anyone believe the full-size straight-suction upright cleaner will make a comeback? I refer to such models as the Royal 311 and the Electro-Hygiene 230 and 2-230 among them. ~Ben

    Royal 201 canister

dan952d Dan, I believe what you have is a model 231 from the mid 1970s. Starting in 1974 they were built with a receptacle for the optional power nozzle (model 497 from 1974-80, then 597 from 1980-85). I remember on your eBay store you many years ago had a rebuilt Royal 801 upright from the...

    Kirby 519

JustJunque Barry, Yes, all Kirbys up until the Tradition 3-CB that came out in 1979 only ever had the shake-out bag. Even after the Tradition came out, Kirby still had the shake-out bag but it was now optional instead of standard, with the Legend II (1989-91) being the last machine to do so...

    Kinda trashed Kirby

JustJunque Barry, The Heritage II Legend was the first machine to feature the improved hose that did away with the aluminum tool end in favor of the carbon one. ~Ben

Nearly Unused 29 Year Old Royal

CentralVacs1928 The difference between the 994 and the 996 is that the 996 also has the brushroll performance indicator light on the back of the nozzle which shows you if the brushroll is working properly or not. The same feature was on the 9700 and the prior 9089. ~Ben

What model of Eureka is this?

Paul In reply #3, Eureka used that script logo (as seen on the hood) as late as their model 1401A in 1976-77. ~Ben

    Eureka Type H bags

Paul In reply #8 here, for the 8th picture in it, the 3320 looks to be a transitional model, since the deluxe floor/wall nozzle has the newer EUREKA wordmark while the canister still uses the old 1968 Eureka-Williams-style graphic, so this 3320 would be about a 1983 model. ~Ben

    Kirby 1-CR

ajc31980 A.J., You should try and look for one of the very first 1970 Kirby Classic 1-CRs that use the complete motor assembly (fan case, height adjuster, armature, field coil and motor housing w/ the small carbon brushes) from the Dual Sanitronic 80, with only the motor shell housing...

Royal 5000 hand vacuum and Hoover Pixie

Human Edgar, It was starting in 1988 or perhaps late in 1987 that the 501 first had the built-in finger guard by the motor switch. All of the M5000s had this, as did the Dirt Devil 501D Deluxe model sold in some department stores. ~Ben

Royal 5000 hand vacuum and Hoover Pixie

dsmith5195 Don, Yes, most parts of the 501 will work on this machine, too. The 5000 was a variation of the 501 with the finger guard by the on/off switch on the handle. ~Ben
