Bobby,
The dots inside the circle with the year stamp refer to the month of the year built. For example, if the circle says "79" as the year, and there are 11 dots in it, the cleaner was built during November 1979.

Dwayne,
The Kirby Vacuette was also sold under other names:
Douglas Busy Bee
Douglas Aardvac
Oreck
Kenmore Klean 'n Vac
Craftsman Powermate
Sew-Rite Sew-Clean Vac (Tacony)
The belt you want to find was also used on these above models.

Up until 1988, Black & Decker made mostly cordless (battery-operated) household vacuums such as their popular Dustbuster. This is why some catalogs that featured this made a special "Not Cordless" mention.
They did have one corded household vac earlier, too: the Collector hand vacuum, in 1982...

Hi Mike,
Do you still have any of the following old Royals as of late?
1983 model 608 (picture 6)
1986 model 801 (picture 3)
1986 model 618 (picture 6)
Thank you,
Ben

Stan,
Here is another complete handle, adapter and cord assembly, only this time it's in the correct trim color specific to your cleaner.
This one is being sold by one of our forum members.
How would $45 plus $9 for shipping sound to you?

Rob,
As for me, if I used a Super-Sweep or Super-Vac 180, I would prefer to use it with the old Kirby shake out bag/Sani Em-Tor setup (the round oval style used from Classic 1-CR to Legend II) for better airflow.

Brian,
Of the Canadian subsidiaries that had Canadian manufacturing plants at the time, don't forget Continental Royal Appliance Ltd. (the Canadian arm of Royal Appliance Mfg. Co., which was known as Continental Electric Co. Ltd. until 1953), with their plant in Scarborough...
WTB in Portland, Oregon or thereabouts: a Royal 18" (wide track) metal upright from the 1980s, either a 618 or 680 but also a 620, 682 or 7820.
Thank you,
Ben (KirbyClassicIII)

Tyler,
The only thing that in my mind would make this 501D more attractive -- besides the fact it's the only Dirt Devil product to be built like a normal 501 Prince -- is if it had the earlier metal fan (1-157004-000).
