old Kirby's going for big money

Vacmadman That would be me. And I can add to how many expensive Kirby’s I’ve sold and bought. My C series machines. One was expensive, and the others were a steal. I used to have an all factory original 508. But needed the money. I managed to get a good amount for that. As well as a 514, 510...

    Your Dream Vacuum Cleaner...

The Kirby Model C was my dream machine. But I have one now. So the next ones in line for me would be the Kirby Model R, American Lincoln Super Sweep, Kirby ComVac 1300 & 1600, the Aerus Lux Guardian Platinum, and the Rainbow E2 Black.

What is the thumb screw on the back of the kirby Em-Tor for?

Hoover300 That one appears to be from around 1953, based on the grey pattern on the box. As well as the style of logo.

What is the thumb screw on the back of the kirby Em-Tor for?

The Sweet Aire bottle Huskyvacs showed is the one from sometime between 1953 & 1956. Here’s the first bottle from 1950.

What is the thumb screw on the back of the kirby Em-Tor for?

That Link was accidental. Vacuumland somehow did that when I was posting. That link takes you to nothing. My apologies.

What is the thumb screw on the back of the kirby Em-Tor for?

Sweet-Aire The screw on the back with the pad inside is the Sweet-Aire port. Kirby introduced Sweet-Aire (a scented liquid) with the Kirby 510 in 1950. You would unscrew that, and drop a little bit of that stuff in there. So when you would vacuum, the Kirby would smell good. The Sweet-Aire was...

    Kirby Selling Online Now

I went on Kirbys website to check out a few things. I noticed they’ve updated it quite a bit. There’s now an option to buy a Kirby without a demo, straight from their website. I think it’s quite interesting to see them make this change. I am curious to see if, and how this’ll affect overall sales.

Potential New Kirby Vacuum Model Discussion

Well, if this new model is really happening. It’ll truly be interesting to see how they approach this. If it does happen, hopefully we’ll be getting something truly great and that will continue to live up to the performance Kirbys have, among other things.

Found a Sentria I...want to turn it into a "Hentria" -- metal fan OK?

Huskyvacs I can assure you the motor supports the fan just fine. My G5 has been supporting it for five years, as I mentioned above. Here’s a video of that G5 running.

Found a Sentria I...want to turn it into a "Hentria" -- metal fan OK?

Here’s my experience regarding Metal Fans in G Series. I have been using a Metal Fan in a G5 for the past five years now. It has had absolutely no issue at all. It runs just fine and sounds smooth. The performance is a lot better than when it had the Nylon Fan. And yes...

    Who Can ID It?

The headlight has some newer rivets holding the trim on. There’s a chance it was modified by a vac shop with those newer rivets to be able to take the newer style trim. Since models 508 and older (down to the 2C) had the smaller trim that only covered the very front of the headlight hood.

    Who Can ID It?

We got an early 500 series Kirby. The nozzle is specifically a 508 - 512 nozzle. I can tell by the lines on the front. As well as the rug plate. The emtor is a 3C - 505 emtor. 3C - early 513 handle grip. 514 & 515 handle fork. Aftermarket belt lifter. All replacement red trim, bag, cord, etc...

    FrankenKirby Alert!

Based on everything I see on this machine… It’s a Kirby 513. Nozzle and Headlight trim appear to be original. The grip is correct as the early 513s had those older grips. But the grip sleeve is an aftermarket. The belt lifter is an aftermarket. Cord is original for the 516 - 561. The emtor tray...

    Air-way vacuum cleaners

Kirbylux77 I have to agree with you on that. These may not be true Air-Way machines. But as you said, at least the name is on a good vacuum. I’m honestly not mad about these machines being branded Air-Way. It really would've been a disgrace if the name were on a cheap disposable Chinese...
