Just got a Kirby d80 - fired it up and it suddenly filled the room with a strong "dog" smell. I emptied the emptor (which didn't smell bad), but does anyone have a good suggestion for eliminating that smell other than replacing the bag. Machine wash, line dry?

well... I turned it on and thought it was just as quiet as my other D80 - in fact, I thought it sounded great! it did give off a "puff' of dust from the bag and smelled strongly of dog... I also noticed that this D80 has only one wheel per side on the forward axle, where my other has two wheels...

handle spring Seems like the spring on the handle doesn't work - the handle drops right over if it's not propped up right. How hard is it to fix or replace that?

I just found this for FREE on craigslist - went and picked it all up and it looks great! Did these come with green attachments or are the red ones "correct"? I haven't had a chance to even plug it in yet, but the guy who gave it to me said that it was pretty noisy...

Yes I passed on it - I never even saw it in person, just emailed the seller and was going to go pick it up. I told him I'd sleep on it and get back to him on Sunday if I was still interested.

Well I'm lucky I found this website - I was at the ATM taking out money and ready to drive a half hour to pick up that Kirby, but I checked here first and came to my senses.

This Kirby was another let down today....

I get so excited when I see a promising vacuum from across the thrift store or garage sale and am (more often of late) disappointed when I get a bit closer. It's sometimes hard not to "spazz" and buy them anyway, but I try to remind myself to save my money for the day that I find one that is...

But If it's got the original warranty paperwork, could I send it in for a factory rebuild?

Hello - I've found an old Kirby at a garage sale and the owner says its a Dual Sanitronic 50, but I'm not sure.. They want $10 for the vacuum (broken fan blade) and $75 for all the attachments. I offered $40 for the whole lot.
