What would I have to change to make a 220v Constellation work in the US

50Hz v 60Hz Don't forget the US power frequency is higher. Whichever route you choose for getting the voltage, I believe the frequency will still be 60Hz, not the native 50Hz in UK/EU/AU. I suspect the motor will therefore run 20% faster, which may be deterimental in the long term as I think...

    Hoover Harlequin Wanted

At least it's only across the ditch ... ... but it doesn't look like it's complete and not necessarily in good condition. Good luck! Nick https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/28353253279

Australian / NZ PYE Handyvac - Stick Cleaner

And a steal at just ... 19 pounds, 19 shillings ... although I bet it was marketed as 19 guineas back in the day. Have fun with your new cleaner!

    Sometimes Arlee really surprises me...

Pricing The advertisement at photo 11 is fascinating. A Dial-A-Matic was almost four times the price of a Constellation. I wonder what price a Convertible would have been. Does this pricing ratio of canister-to-upright seem to be a rule, or was the DAM perhaps priced at a premium for being a...

A Hoover Senior made its way across the pond!

ID Info Missing? Great machine, but I'm curious as to where the identification/rating plate is. It should be visible underneath, near the switch. US voltage won't be enough to run it, so be careful not to brown the windings out with the lower 110V supply.

    Help with Hoover 612

Light Bulb The bulb runs off AU mains voltage - 220V/240V. You can still get small pilot lamps at hardware stores that will suit. 25W max SBC should do it. If old bulb is in machine, take it to the shop and look for similar. Good luck. Original bag looks great!

    VintageHoover Chromed Suction Polisher

There have been others in the forums ... These were apparently popular in Italy. Many homes there are fully tiled, with some rugs in some areas, whereas in Australia, America and many other counties we tend to carept wall-to-wall and only tile in wet areas. With so much floor to polish...

    Hoover senior 652 advice needed

Motor noise Hi Gary, The motor doesn't sound as smooth as I'd expect. It has a high pitched "scream" to it, instead of a lower, gentle hum. It also seems to slow down to a stop more quickly than mine does. I'm afraid I have no idea what the issue might be, but perhaps that black soot you...

    Golden Hoover brushroll...

Speaking of brush strips .... if you work out where to get some, could you let me know? I've tried on a few occasions to get the corrrect ones and keep getting supplied with those designed for newer machines. They spiral the wrong way (r/h instead of l/h helix) and won't slide in. I believe the...

    Model 65's for sale ...

Hi everyone, I'm running out of room and therefore have to sell four Hoover 652 machines. There are two 6525A machines. One is a complete grey example in very good condition, while the other started out grey but received a "gold" paint job from its previous owner. It also has a replacement...

Brush strips for the Hoover model 65/652 ...

Hi everyone, I'm trying to source some brush strips to restore a couple of my 652's. I need the LH Helix style with the original part number 12998BZ, not the newer RH Helix, such as 160646BZ or 48445001. I've googled and found a few listings, but they always end up as NLA when I click through...

    My New Hoover just in.....

Some green questions ... So now I'm really confused - could somebody clarify? I've put together my 652 world view based on what I've collected and what I've seen on this site. I therefore thought the 6525A series came in pink and grey and had the foot switch on the side. I thought the 6525B...
